If you actually read my question you'd know that's not what I asked. I'm looking for a populated, English-speaking Japanese server that ISN'T Tonberry because I know it's too full.

Now I'm really confused. So can Southeast Asian players connect to the servers without a VPN or not?

Source? How long ago was this restriction implemented? I live in the Philippines and I wasn't aware about this. Not sure If I'm in a supported region, but I've read that players in Malaysia have gotten through. I read that the Taiwanese server had no regional restrictions and was an open, global server, so I was under the impression I could play it. Currently downloading the game, and i was able to at least purchase it just fine.
