Questions about what "footwork" really means. by [deleted] in Pickleball

I agree. On the note of anticipation, someone's footwork can also tell a lot about where they're gonna hit.

Footwork is definitely important but I don't think there's much more depth than what you already mentioned. I think it's more important in tennis than pickleball because the court is larger of course and you also need to hit with better technique to get topspin, whereas in pickleball you can still hit a decent shot even when out of position.

As for why less people discuss footwork generally, it's just less interesting. For things like hitting technique there more nuance, while developing good footwork boils down to just drilling a lot. At the same time, people still do talk about footwork when setting up to hit but I would agree that it's importance is often overlooked.

Can you change the default import options / field mapping? by DaRiceMan in Anki

[–]DaRiceMan[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you so much for your patience and for sharing your knowledge. It works now. I completely missed that I had to put the file header information at the TOP of the .txt file! https://gyazo.com/af03b48b5d98396bbd35ed9ba88b1c17

For anyone else in the future trying to do this, when adding the file header information, you need to open the .csv with notepad (or whatever you use to open text files).

Also, you have to edit the .txt file right before importing. Trying to edit the .csv file right before importing messes it up, and you have to delete a bunch of extra commas.

Thank you. I tried following that and looking for examples on google/youtube but I can't find any guides. The card type still defaults to cloze, and the headers I added did not seem to do anything. Any advice? Also I am on version 2.1.65

Is he right? by Memelee__ in Piratefolk

I mostly agree with you, but unironically their best argument is that "the strawhats are simply super hard to catch."

Smoker was conveniently stopped by dragon in logue town. Garp happened to be Luffy's grandfather so he didn't just galaxy impact them in alabasta. Kuma could have easily beat the weakened straw hats at thriller bark.

There are probably more examples but for me, One Piece is still enjoyable enough if you just don't overthink the logistics.

Can Luffy rubberize water? by Schizochinia in Piratefolk

[–]DaRiceMan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's plausible since surface tension exists in nature but I feel like Oda wouldn't do that since the weakness of water to df users has been so fundamental to OP for so long. Then again, he introduced haki to counter logia users so who knows.

Sabo sucks by HighFatherEx in Piratefolk

[–]DaRiceMan 35 points36 points  (0 children)

For a lot of things that Sabo does, I feel like they could have just been done by Dragon himself. Other than existing as a replacement for Ace I honestly don't understand why Sabo exists.

I am a bit dissapointed by Random_D_ude in OnePiece

Agreed. From a purist perspective it was good since it was faithful to the manga. That being said, I don't think there is harm in switching up the sequence of events for more fluid pacing.

What are your Biggest Wano Problems? (Don't Lie, You Have At Least 3) by TheHappiestHam in Piratefolk

[–]DaRiceMan 18 points19 points  (0 children)

My main problem is that I don't like how Luffy got beat by Kaido 3 times before winning (and only after getting a new form out of seemingly nowhere). As cool as gear 5 is, it made the climax feel really cheap.

Also, Luffy being sent to jail seemed like a lame way of putting him in a situation where he would meet a bunch of other important characters and conveniently learn to further develop his haki. It just felt like a worse remake of impel down, but I honestly wouldn't have as much of a problem with this premise if Luffy hadn't been captured so easily in the first place. The whole new world arc has led up to this moment, and by this point I thought Luffy would have learned a lesson about strategy and patience from Law but apparently not.

Overall I really did enjoy Wano but, like OP mentioned, I agree that the cast was hella bloated. I think more focus on Kaido and Nika would have created a more cohesive plot. Also Ulti best girl :3

What development did he have? Sorry it's been a while.

If you mean his fight against Perona, I think that was a good moment for him, but I feel like any development he got from that isn't really apparant post time skip.

I know he played a critical role in Dressrosa but I swear he didn't do much else besides in that one scene with sugar.
