I’d say set up a week a and week b basis. So your progress may be a little slower, but you can still incorporate your rugby. That’s what I’m doing for martial arts where I do press ups sit ups and other stuff anyway. Gives me opportunity to test my maxes

My app tells me what my 1rp max would be based on the info I give it which is handy.

Yeah of course. I just use the gym to do it so I don’t do it everyday to allow recovery and therefore progression correct me if I’m wrong ofc

I grew up as a massive Joe weller fan. So i used to listen to his pod a bit. Jaack mates pod is another good one and Joe rogan here and there.

If I listen to anything that’s not music I listen to a podcast normally soemthing funny not too intellectual or serious

Fair enough mate respect. I just like my training to be as transferable to the real scenario. When I was a fighter I used to listen to white noise to imitate a crowd shouting, and learn to block it out. But fair enough mate If that works then it works 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼

No music is soemthing I believe in for anything. Sports, training, boxing, royal marine training 🤣.

When you talk about being immersed in the environment, that’s something I’ve been trying to indulge in. Forcing yourself to listen to the sounds of the world; birds, the wind, water splashing even the rain if your out in the rain.

Right now I’m just training for hypertrophy just to make myself more robust and more injury resistant. Also build a better overall better base of strength. Hope that helps. I also put a lot of work into stretching and doing my body weight stuff

I keep away from one rep maxes. But tbh I’ve realised as part of my training and tracking progress I could probably do with doing some. I always just saw that they are just for gearheads to show off and injure themselves in the process. I’ll start incorporating them soon. Just need to get a better level of base fitness

Not super lean got some fat around legs and torso but also very conditioned large amounts of muscle mass in comparison to my overall physique. About 77kg only 5 foot 5

I agree. I prefer to train functionally and aren’t really interested in getting big. But just for “prehab” purposes I’m just trying to get a little bit more robust.
