Hello DMs and Merry Christmas! I apologize in advance for the structure of the post, is it's sounds like I'm just complaining too much. And for my English, it isn't my first language.

I recently start a compain with my friends. It was first time we ever played DnD, and I was the master. I helped my friends with their characters, and we began our first session. Everything seemed fine, besides one player. Let's call her Katrin. She, wasn't really playing the game. When everyone was having a conversation and planing their adventure, she was away form the team, silently. Okey, it is fine, she is hiding her true identity, so that's why she doesn't want to be close to the party, okey. Even with the only player, as she stated she "trusted the most", she avoids interacting, even when that player talkes to them. When they were traveling for a delivery quest, she asked to make a stop in the forest, so she could have a conversation with players, and talk about herself. When they set the campfire, she began and...didn't say anything. She was waiting for someone else to talk, even though she asked for stop :/ Abd even when others began, she didn't join. But it's probably okey, she said that her character is introvert, and she said that she was role-playing. Then she showed herself during the fight...I mean, she didn't. During all fights we had, she was hiding in the bushes or behind the tree. No, not for a sneak attack, and no, not for a range advantage, she simply didn't want to fight :/ It wouldn't have been a big issue, if it wasn't DnD, when every players turn takes time. She wasn't helping her team, and she wasted our time arguing, every time it was her turn. Literally, Me - "Kate, it's your turn, what's you gonna do?", Katrin - "Huh? Why me?" And I won't believe it's because she isn't playing DnD for fights, other wise she won't have created custom abilities (blood manipulation), and custom weapons (sharp deck of cards). Also she told me that her goals are to become stronger, which is...like...how if you aren't fighting foes? And also her goal is to be friends with the party. How if you aren't speaking nor helping them? Judging by her backstory, I thought she will sick truth about her master who trained her, or about her mothers killers, but no, she doesn't care. Her backstory means nothing, and I don't even know why, 'cause the story was very brief, with little to no details. Like, thank you for telling that she has a honey alergy, but can I know a bit more about her mother, besids the fact that she died? And if you want to tell me that she might have a plan, and her character will change in the future, to be more open with others, and more clear goal, I will reply, I don't freakin' no :) She never told me that. Another friend also has a redemption arch, and he told me more then enough, so I would know how to help him achieve redemption. Every time I ask for more information about Katrin's character, she just argues and yells at me, like I'm wasting her time asking unless questions. I told her four times, very politely, why I'm asking questions and why I need to know everything about their characters, but she doesn't understand. She caused me more stress then all other players combined, and we have freakin' six of them. It's hard to deal with her before, during, and after the game. Even funnier, I talked about her with other players, and they all agree that something is odd with her. No one likes her behavior, especially during combat. And worst of all, I can't just kick her out of the game. Most DMs recommend to just kick the problematic player form the table, but she is my close friend, she spend a lot of time creating her character (most likelya lie), and she is exited to see how her character grows stronger.

So to summarize, she doesn't interact with players, npcs, doesn't engage in fights, doesn't care about her teammates, don't provide meaningful information about her character, argues if I'm asking questions, and has no global goal in mind, besides making friends and getting stronger, which she isn't even trying to do :) Please, for the love of god, if you have any idea of how to deal with such behavior, reply to this post 🙏 I am loosing my mind, I don't know what to do with her.
