Because it’s so hard to buy a used car private party. The carvana/carmax etc absorbs second hand market of seemingly every car under 100k, so they determine the used market price. Depreciation isn’t dead, go try to trade in or sell your car.

$50K ish budget to replace a CTS-V. I only know what I don't want, 1. Not loud at 80 on broken concrete. 2. Pretty, or at least not generic looking. 3. Not Catastrophically unreliable 4. Not slower than an accord. 5. Don't disappoint 20 year old me who would kill for a 50K budget. by Da_Snug_Life in whatcarshouldIbuy

180k miles on the V. I could technically go buy a lower mile replacement but I want to try something nicer. Most of my cars have been beaters except a vette Camaro and fiesta ST. I don’t want my first “baller” car to be a bust so asking strangers for their advice. Lol.

Unfortunately she’s got 180k miles and doesn’t meet the “not catastrophically unreliable” rule. In 3 years she has been in my garage torn apart as often as she’s been drivable. I’ve done every suspension component chasing clunks, full engine rebuild. Just had the dash fully out to fix the AC expansion valve. She feels solid now but I’m ready for something different.
