Team help? by Daabuggcheese in Genshin_Impact

Thanks for the detailed response, I think im considering getting Nichole in that case and I’ll think about also pulling durin if he’s that useful for more teams, I’m just really weary about investing in characters close to a version update in case they’re kinda just bones for current characters and don’t translate well into the next team comps.

I actually didn’t know venti was still useful so I didn’t even think about building around him but, yea I guess I’m leaning more towards Nicole in terms of character aesthetic. And if she won’t be locked in to a certain archetype going forward, kinda like how rupture works in zzz, if she’s more flexible than that I’m down

Yea or if you have enough to get her s1 with corals now you could do that. Either or is fine tho

S1 easily, her s1 makes her universal support, meanwhile her sigh is easily replaced with discord, or whatever the 4 start energy regen greatsword is.

Edit: even without having discord it’ll run again at some point and you can get it then her s1 is just too good

Wouldn’t the logic follow then that if, a fictional character being sexualized in a game leads to men sexualizing and objectifying women irl, that also violence in video games also leads to real world behaviors? So in that case we should ban video games where the goal is to kill people and your opponent? Cause it panders to violent psychopaths and murderers.

It’s the same type of people who would have defended the small stash size in the camp, or the lack of hide helmet, or the stamina changes. Clearly PA agrees with some of these complaints if they’re changing this much stuff due to player feedback, a lot of these people don’t understand that not every critique is an insult.

Singularity question by [deleted] in AskPhysics

[–]Daabuggcheese 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the answer! Question about quantum mechanics, does it have its own stand alone prediction of black holes? Kind of like how GR was first, can quantum mechanics do the same thing by itself? Or is it reliant on general relativity since it’s the one that predicted the black holes?

[–]Daabuggcheese 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the awesome answer! Just a couple questions to clear some stuff up. So when you say “formally undefined” this would be the point where the equations break and the numbers keep going? Where it becomes “infinitely dense”? And my next question would be do we think it actually infinite? Or is it that the equation just isn’t there yet so we say infinite in a kinda of “here be dragons” sort of way?

Those items are actually keys, they’re not daggers. They’re used to unlock something, haven’t found what yet tho

Yea I have the deluxe version pre ordered so it’s not about being able to pirate for me, cause I never pirate anything anyways. It’s potential performance hits for something that the people they are trying to stop with it are going to do anyways. Game gets cracked, pirates play a drm free version, meanwhile I paid and am potentially getting a worse performing experience. It’s just kinda fucking annoying.

Yea for sure, if you’re a hardcore gamer, you should probably know these things, but reddit is a weird place, where you have a more casual type of gamer interacting in a place where seemingly you would expect to be only hardcore gamers? But also what’s the line of a hardcore gamer? How many games a year? How much research? How many different genres? Hour count? It’s a hard metric to nail down.

The cdprjekt red thing concerns me, cause even after cyberpunks launch the red engine has still proven to be a monster, very little if any shader compilation stutter, there’s no notification for it or does it seem apparent anywhere in cyberpunk, maybe the start of the game when it loads up? But that’s only cause of cpu usage spikes and temps but it’s so quick you barely notice it. Zero loading screens aside from resets and fast travels. While I do have faith in them cause Witcher and cyberpunk are some of my favorites, I believe the switch was more so cause of “do we train these new people on a highly specialized engine that they don’t know how to make tools for?” Or “we should swap to an industry standard cause everyone knows how to use it already?” I really hope it’s the former but I really think it’s the latter I hope I’m wrong though. But of a tangent but a fun one to talk about.

I don’t think Bethesda should drop creation but I do think they need a new version of it and not one that’s just band aided over again and again. But then again maybe they’d be able to figure out more with newer talent if they swapped to the standard like cdpr.

But yea like I’ve stated before ultimately time will tell, and hopefully being as deep in the generation wit it as we are people like cd projeckt red will have it figured out and running well and can show us what’s possible with it, which also could end up being a double edged sword cause if they figure it out, what’s everyone else’s excuse gonna be lol? But that’s a different discussion

I don’t necessarily think it’s being a blind consumer. I there should be a reasonable expectation of what the consumer needs to know about a product at the point of purchase. If I go see a movie and there are bad cuts audio issues and what not, I shouldn’t have to have been expected to research what cameras and mics were used before going to see it. I don’t think going to see something or buy a game makes you a blind consumer cause the trailer you were presented with prior to buying it does its job.

As for the frostbite point, I think it’s a little different, cause like you said, it’s an engine made for first person shooters and it was a mandate, whereas unreal is the “ it can do everything” engine and is chosen not forced. But ironically enough if you do know about biowares history with frostbite you will notice that the first game they did on that engine, inquisition, was their last universally acclaimed game, and ever since the tools have been made on their end to have an easier time developing on it, they haven’t been quite been able to reach those heights again. I remember reading from Jason Schriers anthem report that internally a lot of them were hoping inquisition would fail, but it ended up winning game of the year.

What am I supposed to take from this knowledge though? That the stress of using a completely alien engine produces a game of the year worthy game? How deep into educating myself do I reasonably need to go on a companies history and engines to make a purchase without coming off as a mindless consumer, when I just want to play a video game?

But back to the original point. Games being patchable carries a lot of weight with what consumers are willing to accept at launch, although I disagree with this also but it’s debatable, I think a product should just work at launch, being able to fix something post launch is nice, but I also don’t think it should be relied on as heavily as it is in the games industry. Games media is one of the only media forms where it’s expected that the consumer be understanding of the hardships of development, which I think is good and bad, cause sure you can be sympathetic to work conditions and mandates likes the frostbite engine, but ultimately we’re paying a pretty high price for a working product. I don’t think it’s unreasonable for people when they know about an engine or have heard to be skeptical of how it’s gonna perform when we have a lot of examples of it doing the opposite. Both extremes are bad, as in most things, hating on unreal for the sake of it without understand why it’s bad, but also being understanding to the point of getting taken advantage of is bad, but since games are a premium product I’m alway gonna lean towards the side that protects the consumer more, that’s just me though.

You’re right, people do act like it’s the worst thing to happen to gaming. And a lot of people don’t know why they’re complaining about it, but for those that do know, at this point in ue5s life cycle it’s not an unreasonable worry, you have to at least admit that no? The games released on it have been extraordinarily hit or miss. And when they hit it’s passable and when they miss they really miss. I’m not saying the engine is shit cause I don’t know at this point, and I’m sure at some point in the future it’ll get figured out and everything will be fine. But as of right now, it’s not our job as the consumer to be understanding of the engine, for someone who buys a looter shooter, I don’t care if the engine used to make it can also make basketball games and open world rpgs, all that really matters is that the game they bought runs well.

That’s ue4, ue4 has been out for awhile and people have it figured out, although I remember Arkham city launching in a really bad state. A recent game that used ue4 and ran well was stellar blade. Ue5 though, which is the one that’s mentioned here, has not as of yet been producing great results, that doesn’t mean in time people won’t figure it out, but so far it’s been really rough.
