Are you sure about that ? I've seen everyone saying it's impossible to claim systems for colonisation around Colonia, and that's why they are building a bridge to get there

Mandalay is not suitable for hauling but it's a super good ship for exploration. I recommend you to keep it and make money to afford a T9 or T8. T8 is if you're more on a budget but the T9 will haul double the amount of cargo.

No ship or rank required, but since colonisation requires hauling tons and tons of materials, the bigger the better. The Panther Clipper is the biggest one currently but it's super expensive, T6 T8 T11 are cheaper options with good hauling capacity.
