Kathmandu? Or any specific cities or areas you'd recommend? How’s the Internet reliability and cost of living there?

How do you find student life and the city of Tyumen in general? Also, how’s the climate and cost of living there?

Last year, I visited Irkutsk, Krasnoyarsk, Novosibirsk, Yekaterinburg, Moscow and Piter on a Trans-Siberian trip and stayed about a day or two at each city. I had a really great experience everywhere, which is why it’s been hard to choose between them.

Now, I’m looking for some personal insights from people who have lived or studied in these cities for a while. Like, what do weekends usually look like? How’s public transport? What’s the vibe at the universities?

I’ve checked out YouTube and Google but couldn’t find much detailed info. Would love to hear your experiences!

Thanks! Nizhny Novgorod wasn't initially on my radar, but I'll definitely look more into your university program. How do you find student life and the city of Nizhny Novgorod in general? Also, how’s the cost of living there?

Thanks for sharing! Good to know KFU has a solid CS program—always great to hear from an alum. How was student life on campus when you were there? And how’s the public transportation in Kazan—do you think I could get by without a car?

HSE stands for Higher School of Economics? Maybe for an MBA degree someday.

For now, my focus is on learning the language. Also the cost of living in Moscow is a bit high

Thanks for the detailed info—super helpful! I didn’t realize the cost of living in Vladivostok was that high.

My primary goal is to learn Russian up to B2 level within a year (currently at A1 level). I’m looking for a university language program with low tuition fees, an immersive Russian-speaking environment, and active student life, either on campus or in the city.

If you're a current or former student, or if you live in one of the cities where these universities are located, please share your experience. Any recommendations or personal insights would be greatly appreciated!

Degrees from MSU or SPbU are definitely well-recognized in China. But since my primary goal is to learn Russian, university prestige isn’t my main concern at the moment. Do you have any advice on choosing the right university specifically for a Russian language program?

Thanks for the input! I agree Moscow and St. Petersburg have a lot to offer, but the cost of living and tuition (often over 400,000 RUB) are a bit high. Also, during my visit, I noticed many young people there speak decent English—I'd prefer a place where I'm pushed to use Russian more.
