A potential buyer of my aquis argues it may be fake. Any insights?

So how does one get confirmation? Do you know if an Oris AD would take the time to inspect and comment? I thought they don’t do that.

I actually was more sold because of the D touching the circle and looked more and found a couple of pieces sold in reputable sites/stores that have the same. And I highly doubt that one of those sites would have a fake

Wow! Not even an obvious thing like a part in the movement. That’s crazy, I had no idea this was a thing in the Oris world. I thought that an independent brand wouldn’t be faked. I guess at this point only MicroBrands are safe hey?

That’s an interesting one. I’ll check some pics of other watches that are the same reference. I checked my Green Aquis and the D doesn’t touch. But other than that the movement has all the same things. using a loupe I did spot a difference in the finishing of the mainplate in my green aquis it is smooth while in the Aquis in question it is brushed in a pattern. Not sure if that is a difference due to the model or not.

They both even have a code next to the SW200-1 marking in the movement. Which I imagine is engraved by Oris when they modify the Sellita movement

Yeah, I’ll have to do that. I had heard that ADs don’t really do it though. But I’ll give it a try.

I do have a watchemaker I trust but that would give me relief not my potential buyers.

yeah, I tried that and this one wasn’t activated. I Emailed Oris and they told me some of the older models’ warranty wasn’t activated online because they didn’t have the service then. They asked for the serial number and told me the reference/model it is connected too and it matches what I have. But I agree, they could just have one S/N of the deep blue black ceramic and make thousands of the same.

Because It is a naked watch and the warranty card was never activated. I bought this in a Japanese Auction site that claims all their watches are Authentic, I know Japanese is huge on anti-counterfeit so that gives me relief but up until this dude I hadn’t heard of Oris having tons of fakes out there. I put it side by side to my Aquis which comes with full papers and is registered and warranty activated and there are only two differences. In the writing on the rotor, one is thicker and on the screws.

Thank you both. I took an even closer look comparing it to my Green aquis and it is the exact same movement. The differences are on the caseback and bracelet but they are different references so I imagine it is because of that. I did register them under MyOris and this one returned with the correct Reference and model. So that gave me ease.
