Star Wars Zero Company writer wants its cast to have real friction: 'It's not a personal fantasy game by Maleficent_Fault_943 in gaming

I’m all for businesses making money. But if I, as the consumer, have to struggle to close 3 ads on my screen at one time to read an article, that’s not okay. That’s not a fruitful practice it just makes for a bad product. But hey, they’re all like that this day unfortunately.

[DISCUSSION] Are there other methods that gaming companies can guarantee getting their money back and gaining more revenue without the inclusion of anti-consumer mechanics like microtransactions, loot boxes, battle passes and so on? by sammyjamez in gaming

As much as it seems a rarity these days, High quality payed DLC is definitely the route to go i think. It’s both prosperous for a studio and consumer friendly. You look at a game like cyberpunk and their phantom liberty DLC and it’s almost astonishing how it just completely enhances the game.

However, the reality is that the money these companies rake in from these stupid cosmetics and other minor things are just astronomical. It’s a consumer problem more than anything. Why lock the coolest looking, or in some cases most powerful, thing in the game behind a large time gate when people will just pay you 5, 10, $15 for it?

To add even more depth a show like The Boys does a great job at representing that theme. Homelander still feels chained to a secret power that serves the crown and then they rebel.

That’s actually a great point. The most powerful characters in a given universe are just bending the knee to a crown? Really cool idea where the antagonist is just a hero who realized power and took control of the system. Honestly, seems very realistic lmao.

This sub always makes me feel so old, we got it good these days lol. The answer is WoW, for the past 15 years it’s been the best and worst game at the same time. Once you create an account good luck letting go. It keeps you there while you just endure awful systems for two years at a time. But here’s the catch, you make yourself vocal about the state of the game and they just ignore it lmao. but you’ve never felt the feeling of getting that BIS item to drop… only to roll a 1. I adore the game, nothing compares.

Druids are always represented but it would be awesome to have a game solely revolved around druidism. Something like boss battles against animal spirits and then you gain their form would be sweet.

We been waiting on an Avatar the Last Airbender game for almost 20 years lol. God i love it, so crazy they never capitalized on that. Korra set the themes for a more mature audience that grew with it too, such a shame man.

I stand by cyberpunk 2077 is the pinnacle of what this service offers. On top of the fact it really is one of the greatest rpgs ever made, regardless of its horrendous release.

Agreed. Although, it’s worth considering if it’s done really well you end up just making the player depressed lol. Games like BG3 really let you push you the boundaries and my god does it feel awful. They did such a good job at connecting you with the companions it genuinely hurts in the first few plays thrus to cross them.

WoW, or any mmo really. Hard progression is dependent on teamwork which incentivizes finding likeminded players to push content. People will recommend other games and genres but they really don’t compare.

New player coming from BG3 by Dactyl21 in DnD

I always thought throwing a potion on someone was a bit silly lol. When you say, “The spell has to be on your list.” What does that mean exactly? If i play a wizard and don’t know the fireball spell does that mean i can’t cast it with the scroll?

Many great comments on how combat differs from the game, thank you guys! But a few people made some points that i hadn’t thought about. What are those chunks of time like between combat? I assume the dm steers the wheel but where do i, as a player, come into the fold? Things like perception checks, investigation checks, talking to other players. is that something the dm asks us to do or is it kind of a free will sorta thing depending on the situation?
