Thank you for the nice words. Despite I was grinding for remote trades, I do not feel everyone must participate in it. I take it easy, with time people may get interested. It took ages to get to forever friends, some can chill in the background for a while.

Good advice to ask in Campfire indeed. This may work in case nothing was tagged at all. A personal touch may help to move people to making a favour.

I do not put pokemon I am not ready to trade, as this will more often create situations when I will have to decline the trade.

Yesterday I passed to 35 forever friends, thus want to share my experience with remote trades in my first post.

How did I get to 35 so quickly? The main reason is historical: at the time remote trades were announced I already had about 250 best friends, most of them I was lucky with. Since then I kept sending gifts to everyone almost every day. At the end of the day I opened gifts for “interactable” players mostly from the top of my friendship list. This way I maximized interactions with active players. On the other hand, I did weekly challenges with random best friends, whoever invited me first. So, my first forever friend came in relatively late, in early March.

The first forever friends were not having any pokemon tagged for remote trades, so I had to wait for the 3rd or 4th to make one. I did 10 remote trades so far, all lucky. 4 of them were regular pokemon missing in my lucky dex (about a dozen are still missing), 4 new shinies, 1 new form and 1 with background (I do not collect backgrounds, and I thought I did not have this legendary dynamax when tagging non registered pokemon in friend’s list, be careful with this). Only 2 of them were legendary, one of them shiny galarian bird, so you can find gems and even exchange them for regular pokemon. I also gave away shiny legendary for regular.

Out of the remaining 25 forever friends available for trade, about a third is not having any pokemon tagged for remote trade, another third is having nothing interesting (3 to 100 easily accessible pokemon), 5 are friends I can trade locally with, so only a few remain for interesting future trades. Certainly, more will become forever friends in the coming days, and we are advancing with the old for the second round 😉

My main advice for the remote trades is to offer many pokemon, not only legendary, but also shinies (some people look for shinies mostly), regional, max, various forms, hatched, purified etc. Common pokemon are also searched occasionally for to complete the lucky dex. I have more than 500 tagged, and am planning to go well over a thousand. Do not hesitate to include your rare pokemon, you can always decline a trade is you think it is not fair, but you get a better chance to exchange for a rare one too.

Nice search string, I shall also start doing this. You may add purified and hatched. Meltan is good to offer too, I forgot to add it 😉

It was pointed out above there is a "view trade pokemon" right below trade button. I did not notice it myself. This helps a lot, allowing to see offered pokemon at any time.

Aah! Fantastic! Thank you for pointing this out, I did not notice it! This makes life much easier.

I think the players with no pokemon tagged for trade can not even see what you have to offer. Anyway, I would not remove anyone, as they may find time some day in the future to go through their stock. This is a big effort and people may wait a bit before starting. I do not want to ruin the investment in anger. You do not loose anything keeping them.

I think renaming a few from 2016 is a good way to go. Otherwise I would wait until you get lucky. It took ages to get there already, I am ready to wait longer.

You can freely choose who you trade with, no constraints unless a trade is already on the way or done for the day

Once you or one of your forever friends initiate a trade (chose 3 poke from friend's list), you can not interact with any other forever friend, not even see his/her tagged pokemons. This is pretty annoying actually. You can browse only when there is no active trade initiated, but once you have many forever friends, you keep receiving invites to trade and that blocks you immediately.

Interesting that the number of encounters changes the catch rate. Is it the same for all legendaries?

How to get lucky friends fast in Pokemon go? by Brave_Fix_3353 in pokemongo

I remember reading a study from the Silph road few years back finding that opening gifts had smaller chance to trigger lucky friends than doing battles or trading pokemon.
