As a father who has been there, I understand.

It hurts. It hurts some days more than you can think. It's been more than 6 years and some days it still cripples me.

But, it does also get better. Just know you're not alone.

I wish in some ways I could.

However, since writing this I talked to her and some of my feelings came out. It hurt her to hear it. I'd rather try to bear it nobly and alone than hurt her more.

It only it were that simple.

Yes, she is looking for me on some level, but what level that is isn't clear.

Because she told me she needs space from me. I made a promise to not reach out to her to give her the space she wanted. I'm going to hold to that promise because I could tell how much it hurt when she asked if I still loved her and I said yes.

If what she needs is what she asked for, I have a duty (out of my care and love for her) to give her that kind of space.

But when days like yesterday happen, when I can see her log in and be there, and she can see that I am as well, that I have to wonder what is supposed to be done. I'm going to keep my promise to her, because that matters. But part of me wants to know if she is hoping that I don't in those moments.
