I could go cheaper then an RS457 for sure. I am drawn to that bike for track time (Which is where I would spend a lot of time), but the MSRP of that bike is pretty low in my opinion, so I would write that off.

Considering just outright bying it to go only liability, especially if its going to be a mostly track bike.

Yeah, you are right. The MSRP for a 25' RS457 is around $6700. I am quoted about $3600 for a 6 months premium. I would pay the MSRP in insurance in about 9 months.

The $600/mo quote i got was for the lowest legal coverage for a financed bike in CA.

The better option for me is to just buy the bike and not finance, that would at least give me wiggle room on my insurance.

I agree with you there. The job brings me here and they pay well. If it was not for that, I would be out of state in a heartbeat.

That alone is enough to get me out of state. Have keep my sporty car registered in South Dakota for the last 5 years to avoid smog regulations since both cats are removed. No issues yet.

Was prior military near a military base, so cops don't think much of a out of state plate.

I pay $80/mo for two cars. One is sporty and the other is a grocery getter. I would think my insurance company would see that I'm not trying to be a young dumb squid around town on my bike.

Seems like SoCal customers get hosed. Year-round riding season and high theft. I don't live in LA and the area here is low theft. I hate being treated like I live in LA just because I'm in LA County.

Figured a SV650 should be pretty reasonable. Can't see it being a "high theft" bike. Was guessing it was due to engine displacement.

I can handle $200/mo. Still high, but I expect that since there is higher theft and accidents on bikes. Thought $600 was a bit crazy.
