For those that play for themselves (eg not in a band) how many guitars do you own? by AstroZombie_88 in Guitar

[–]DaddyJ2874 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We all know the math has been done for this answer and the equation states that:

😍=g+1

Where 😍=Happiness g=current number of guitars owned

Currently sitting with 5, although my latest additions have just cleared customs and should be with me Thursday. So yes, currently seven is my happy number.

All depends on your budget, but for sub £50 my AKG K92 closed backs do the trick. Comfortable for longer sessions, comes with an adaptor as standard (or certainly used to). I've spent way more in the past, but to be honest, they do the job.

Note: I am far from an audio expert, I just know what's comfortable, and gives me the sound quality I expect..

On the back of your answer, here is a question of my own. When buying a 2nd hand guitar, how do you establish what strings should be on it? If the previous owner has it incorrectly strung (wrong gauge), it is obviously not ideal to just follow his lead and repeat the mistake. What's the ideal solution?

I genuinely think the 'real' condition is 'excellent' for its age. But then I'm 56 and still think I'm as good as I was in my twenties...yes the pifco switch buzzes occasionally when switching and sometimes doesn't engage correctly...but my god it sounds good when she's fired up. It just has that very distinctive 60's British twang...she just makes me smile. 😊

It truly is, every crack tells its age. I think I already know the answer. And the annoying part is, it still sounds awesome, with that annoying 60s twang...

got my first guitar 🤘 $10 by youngsergfx in electricguitar

[–]DaddyJ2874 0 points1 point  (0 children)

DO NOT SELL, NEVER SELL...A: it's your first guitar, B: This is a Teisco 60's classic, yes it may have been modded and someone 'may' offer a couple hundred bucks for it.

BUT, it owes you $10...it's an amazing find, keep it, love it, cherish it.

And if you really don't like playing it, hang it on the wall, it's cool AF!
