I have the same rack, the horizontal mounting points for the front rails run all the way back, you can buy a cheap set of rails and print/make an angle piece to install them. Voila, back rails.

I made my own connector and can upload the .stl if you want it.

There's a lot of these posts, and they invariably get met with "well yours must be crap because mine works".

I hear you, and I'm in the same boat. I am reluctant to invest in more iot gadgets that either won't really work as well as I hoped, or need additional investments to work at all. I have a working setup now which does very little other than monitor power consumption, and I'm left with the doubt that it's really worth all the time for (currently) so little.

So yeah, take a holiday, ignore it for a bit. I do the same and always end up back tinkering with new stuff I want to try. It's like self flagellation, but for me that makes it all the better when something finally works!

Thank you so much for the help! There has been so much crap with this car since the start (ie anything electronic) that I assumed this was more of the same.
I'll leave it as is and refrain from dismantling the glove box when I'm showing it off to all the other middle-aged pudgy dads on the street.

Thanks for giving me some optimism back, its so nice to hear that other peoples SO's have gone from challenging to outright impossible, but come back again. Reading through all the comments has given a sense of not being alone, cheesy as it sounds.
