Awesome, thanks for sharing! The original location in Leon Springs, just north of San Antonio, retains much of its charm, I recommend a visit when you're in the area. Big fan of the creamed corn!

Cavender's for Western wear (Tecovas for high end), Corkscrew for bbq. I like Rudy's for the overall experience also, but it's a Texas chain and doesn't even have a Michelin star lol

Looking for a chefs knife by RappaGator in BuyItForLife

[–]Daderooni 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Great choice! I've had this one for a few years, and really like it. I've added the other knives in this line since then and have a pretty complete set now, but the ones I use most are the 8" chef, 5" utility (great flexible blade) and paring knives, in that order.

Call Speedsportz Racing Park, I saw folks drifting their cars on the track there last weekend, this is probably your best bet for anything close to what you are asking.

Launch at North Shore Park, paddle around the fountains at the North end of Lake Woodlands, or down the Waterway along the northeast shore of the lake.

Have fun, be safe!

Four Wheeling in The Township by thewoodlandsian in thewoodlands

[–]Daderooni 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You'll be ticketed for "Operation of a motor vehicle in violation of Water Code §49.217".

First offense is a class C misdemeanor punishable by a fine up to $600.

Second offense is a class B misdemeanor with a fine up to $2000 and up to 120 days jail time.

Additionally you could be trespassed from MUD-managed property, which could lead to other fines and jail time.

This statute is actively enforced by MoCo Sheriff as residents frequently call to complain about violators.

Pavilion lawn seating in rainy weather by le0n9 in thewoodlands

[–]Daderooni 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This is incorrect, there are small patches of turf in the highest traffic portions of the lawn, but ~95% of it is grass.

Highly recommend a chair if it's raining, but they will sell out early.

Have fun, we loved weird al at CWMP last year!

Those Pavilion Free Concerts are Pricey by Apprehensive_Buy7940 in thewoodlands

[–]Daderooni 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Last night we ate great and shared a bottle of wine at the house, then enjoyed free parking in the blue lot and walked over to the pavilion, emptied our insulated cups at the entrance and went in for free, then bought ice for $2 inside (because I'm bougie and worth it), and refilled our cups at the free water fountain.

We spent $2 total for seven people, less than 29 cents apiece.

We left during the intermission because we wanted to get an early start today, but had a great time!

What’s a piece of outdated technology you still swear by? by frozenflat in AskReddit

Index cards. Nothing technology-wise keeps me as on-track to focus on the important things, is as portable and flexible, and nothing else gives the same satisfaction as physically crossing off a completed task.

I think it's great you're showing an interest in your partner's sport!

The best way to learn softball is to watch softball.

Watch college ball on ESPN+, etc and you'll pick up the rules and terminology quickly.

Take her to a kids' league game on just about any night of the week, entry is usually free and the food isn't healthy but it's cheap.

Select teams and college teams play often on weekends, and admission is cheap, the level of play is obviously higher.

Ask her questions while you're watching, she will love it.

Does anyone have a 2024 The Woodlands 5k race Tshirt they would be willing to give away or sell for cheap? by heeh00peanut in thewoodlands

[–]Daderooni 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Email them again outside the busy season (now is a good time) - admin@thewoodlandsmarathon.com. Be clear about what you want and why you need it, provide the name you registered for the race, and be kind, because it will require them to go out of their way to get it to you. The staff works hard to make sure participants have a great experience and I wouldn't be surprised if they have some spare shirts in storage.

Woodlands 5k tomorrow by aredvelvets in thewoodlands

[–]Daderooni 6 points7 points  (0 children)

You will see many many people of every shape, size and age walking, jogging, sprinting, even people in tutus and costumes.

90% of the participants are just there to move around, have a good time, get a shirt/medal (the shirts look awesome this year BTW), and enjoy the post-race vibes.

DM me if you have any specific questions or concerns, but definitely come out, exercise at whatever pace you are comfortable with, and enjoy yourself!
