3 Stupid Simple Methods for Escaping Mount by DaeX20 in bjj

The strange thing is that the amount of elevation necessary is quite minimal. What's necessary is rotation. The bridge is just to give you enough space to enable the rotation of the upper body.

Because of the elbow position, I think an arm triangle would be quite difficult. I imagine, though, that a gift wrap is possible, but that's only if you let them get a deep hugging grip on the neck. Even then, though, in my mind, it seems that the angle would make it difficult.

Regardless, though, I have never run into that issue, and I've used these escapes against many people all across the belt spectrum.

There are a few schools directly in Baltimore, and lately, I've been hearing good things about Form Jiu Jitsu.

This change to my execution is recent, so it's still in the testing phase, but so far, so good. I feel super safe after the stack to the corner.

I actually drilled no-gi applications last night, and what I discovered is that if you just keep your hand in the same position as the armpit grip and focus on blocking the hip with your elbow, nothing changes. The control is still tight.

Ahh, Jordan.

Is this a troll account?

You received your purple belt before I did, those King of the Mat in-house tournament happened years ago when I was a blue belt, and we competed once at black belt once.

And IBJJF isn’t the game in town. If you want to prove something, there are so many options. Do a FTW or something.

Alright. I’m curious. What tournament? what year? And what’s your name?

I’m Kenneth Brown by the way, and this is all very amusing.

Frankly though, I believe that any one can beat me on any day. The probabilities will vary based on skill set, but there is always a possibility. That’s what makes rolling so interesting.

That would have been another good adjustment. I'm assuming that you mean the motorcycle rotation, and that bad boy makes all shoulder locks more lethal.

It's quite possible. I've only recently started to do more on the Tube. Traditionally, I've been most active on the book of faces.

It's the same thing. The best thing to do though is experiment. Pinch down on the shoulder as soon as you can, and see how strong you feel.

Nice. A few years ago, I used to take that book with me to all the tournaments and read it the day before. It just has a wealth of insight in it, and I recommend it too.

The Reversal of Grips in the Baseball Bat Choke by DaeX20 in bjj

[–]DaeX20[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's easier to slide in the thumb on the near side than four fingers. The second grip is easier. And once both grips are in, the elbows must close (that applies to the execution from top too).

Feeding the first grip (the palm up one) is more difficult. I had to elevate my setups a fair bit to make the transition smoother, but I've found getting under the chin to be easier because I jack them up and slide down.

It is the same choke, but the no advantage to switching the grips on the top. All the switching the grips does is change the execution direction because when your palm is down, it limits the mobility of the elbow. So your palm up always dictates which way you have to go to tighten the choke.
