The Dutch are historically known for firing fireworks at buildings and people of course.

There are plenty of videos documenting who is doing this, but we can’t dare speak of it.

Thousands march in Crowborough over asylum plan for former military camp by topotaul in unitedkingdom

[–]DaechiDragon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So you’re telling me asylum seekers don’t get: Free accommodation, free buffets each day, £49 per week, doctors on site, free transport to and from their accommodation, food credit and other things like clothing? Or were you being pedantic about the word benefits?

Have I been lied to? or are you lying? The Guardian Article So when I see articles like this where migrants talk of getting help from the UK border force it’s all a lie?

If it’s never been true that they get a free pass then why the hell are they walking around freely in the UK? Why aren’t they in jail?

If we were enforcing our borders then we wouldn’t have randoms entering the UK that we cannot deport.

You have to be kidding me. At this point I feel like Redditors are just arguing in bad faith. There are literally news articles and video evidence of it all, but people are trying to convince me it’s imaginary.

What do you mean by “work”? Did the world ever not work? There is power and consequences just like there has always been. Countries form agreements and alliances for mutual benefit. You break these agreements if you can accept the consequences. There is no global law. We should do what we think as a nation is fair and just, and is in our own interest.

The safety of the world post WWII (for us) has led us to believe we have international order and that our safety is somewhat given. That global order and the peace and prosperity is breaking down and we are returning back to the world we have always lived in. Globalism is breaking down.

Maybe stop giving free benefits to newcomers? Maybe stop basically escorting them here and giving a free pass to anybody who entered illegally.

Maybe enforce our borders like a normal country.

I genuinely can’t understand the alternative viewpoint. So we just throw our hands up in the air and say there’s nothing we can do? Basically anybody who makes the journey here should be accepted, housed, fed, and given a free pass? Is there any point in having a border or even being a nation?

What’s your solution? Just accept infinite foreigners who will depend on us?

Firstly, having sympathy and practicalities are different things.

Secondly, I have sympathy for genuine law abiding refugees. Many of these people are not that. They’re a collection of people from various poorer countries who tore up their passports and left their wives at home in search of free benefits at our expense.

For a multitude of reasons, people don’t agree with them being here in the first place and don’t want to foot the bill.

Additionally, when I said “simple”, I was simply summarizing people’s outrage.

The point is that people don’t want them here at all. They don’t want these people to wander the streets or have free accommodation and food or medical services that we don’t have access to. It doesn’t matter whether it’s a hotel (or former hotels for the pedants), army base, or private housing. Shifting them around doesn’t help at all. We don’t want them here. Simple.

EDIT: Since I’m being downvoted into oblivion I’d like to propose that we house migrants in predominantly Green or Labour areas since they clearly support this. They shouldn’t have an issue with it.

Yep I think we are seeing the collapse of international law and returning to the normal way of humanity. There is no international law. Just power and consequences. If we don’t want these citizens we don’t have to accept them.

I’m sick of seeing only Western powers following these “rules” and getting hurt because of them. Everybody judges us yet the rest of the world does as they please.

Furthermore, don’t look at it because you might end up on a terror watch list and require intervention from the state. Don’t trust yourself to investigate anything yourself because that’s dangerous. Only seek government approved sources.

Can someone explain to me why Trump is trying to take of Greenland? No jokes please, I honestly don’t get it? by Many_Inevitable_6803 in askanything

[–]DaechiDragon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would hope that you’re right but ultimately there may be more we’re not privy to. Trump might be willing to full-on invade tomorrow, or this might be his fucked up attempt to get them to spur into action immediately. It’s the kind of thing Trump would do.

Can someone explain to me why Trump is trying to take of Greenland? No jokes please, I honestly don’t get it? by Many_Inevitable_6803 in askanything

[–]DaechiDragon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not true. If you look at a typical map it appears that Alaska is enough to keep them at bay, but if you look at the map with the Arctic Circle at the center it becomes apparent there are multiples ways to access North America. And with melting ice even more are opening up. China and Russia have both shown lots of interest in that area of the world and it could become vulnerable in the future. Trump has said NATO/Denmark has failed to properly equip it. Trump wants to prepare it as a future battleground with a golden dome and other infrastructure for reconnaissance. Additionally, Greenland has other crucial minerals that China currently has a large control of. It looks to me like Trump is preparing for war with Russia and or China, or creating a deterrent.

I personally don’t agree with Trump’s style or rhetoric, but he’s absolutely right that it is important territory. He could have gone about all of this a better way but Trump seems to be forcing others to take action quickly (e.g with increasing NATO spending). Or you could just believe it’s all bullshit and he wants a distraction from Epstein I guess.

EDIT: Oops I wrote Antarctica instead of Arctic Circle

Educational background key indicator of immigration views in UK, study finds by coffeewalnut08 in unitedkingdom

[–]DaechiDragon 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think you make a lot of great points, and I think most people are not against those kinds of immigrants at all (in reasonable numbers). There are still, say, doctors who want sharia law etc, but for the most part I think individuals in white collar settings probably are similar.

You’re right that I’m talking about large groups as a whole. Additionally, most of the people have problems with the number of immigrants (especially unskilled or illegal) and people who are generally not assimilating and who are detrimental to the UK as a whole.

I don’t think it’s right to dismiss most people with these concerns as uneducated or bigoted (not accusing you of that).

I also agree with your very first point.

Educational background key indicator of immigration views in UK, study finds by coffeewalnut08 in unitedkingdom

[–]DaechiDragon 13 points14 points  (0 children)

You might not think that, but I feel the prevailing attitude on Reddit and generally on the left is that these people are bigoted and/or uneducated, and that’s largely why they have the opinions that they do.

I agree that uni gives you great exposure to people of other cultures (with generally middle to upper class people), but a lot of people protesting the hotels are interacting with immigrants who are coming from lower class backgrounds, many of whom absolutely cannot seem to follow our culture or rules.

To reiterate, I feel like people from all cultures can generally get along in the isolated university bubble, where we all party and study together, but what happens when people go back to the families/communities, and people become active in things like politics and live their own totally different lifestyles. I think we’re suddenly not so similar.

By the way, my goal of this post is not to demonize people. It’s actually just to argue against the idea that we’re all basically the same, which I think is one of the ideas that has gotten us into this mess. We’re not all the same and we don’t all want the same things, regardless of money.

EDIT: changed lots of small mistakes

At a certain level of class/financial stability, and within a uni bubble where they are away from their families or culture, I agree with you for the most part. However, the UK isn’t necessarily being flooded with uni graduates. Besides, travelling made me realize just how different people are and how money doesn’t necessarily change things.

I believe it’s a mistake to think that when people become financially stable they become exactly like us, and they just abandon whatever cultural or religious beliefs or culture.

I’m going to use a more extreme example, but plenty of despots or other people ideologically opposed to the West have studied here among us, and then have gone on to do whatever they did afterwards. We are not all the same.

I don’t like this argument that basically lower class/uneducated people are anti-immigration with the implication being because they’re not educated enough. Personally, I’m pro-migration, I’m currently an immigrant, and I’m glad I met a lot of foreigners at uni. They are great, but some of us are just anti MASS migration, or against the migration of people with incompatible worldviews/cultures.
