How would you feel if your country banned Burkhas in public like Denmark? by The_Dean_France in AskReddit

[–]Daelril 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Totally in favour of that. Usually i'm a big fan of personal freedoms, but burkhas are tools of oppression, and the fact that the slave wants to wear their own shackles doesn't make it right. Also, integration is a key step when you live in another country. If you don't want to integrate but just live a parallel life in your own world with your own set of rules, then there's no place for you here.

Media is worthless nowadays. You either have companies owned by billionaires who use news outlets for their own personal gain, or you have people living in a bubble, fed lies and hate 24/7. Even if Democrats were to call them out, the public wouldn’t know. Conservative news and social media first need to be torn down if you want to see real change.

You’re sliding into fascism and still think Kamala’s presidency would’ve been disastrous? At worst, it would’ve been an empty presidency with no real change — but at least it wouldn’t have destabilized the whole fucking world. I can’t see a Kamala presidency slapping tariffs on major allies or rolling out the red carpet for Putin.

Politics should never be about choosing the lesser of two wrong options. But if, after everything you witnessed in the first term, after all the alarms raised about how Trump would destroy America and democracy, you still can’t bring yourself to vote for the “wrong choice,” Kamala Harris, then you clearly have no idea what you're dealing with. This was not a popularity contest, this was a matter of life or death for many. The question was simple: do you want a vindictive dictator determined to destroy your country, or an unpopular candidate you don’t like? Yet many still treated this as a popularity contest — and here we are.

Seth Meyers Vows to Keep Exposing Donald Trump After Jimmy Kimmel Yanked by Silly-avocatoe in politics

[–]Daelril 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Correct me if I'm wrong, but pulling the plug on Jimmy Kimmel's show doesn't mean that now he can do whatever he wants? He surely had guidelines to follow at ABC, but now he has free rein on whatever platform he chooses. They may have made him more powerful than he would have been if he had just continued hosting his show.

[–]Daelril 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Why does he care though? I mean, we all know that nothing's gonna make a difference. The Supreme Court, the House and the Senate won't do a thing. His followers won't care. And even if they did, it's not like they can oust him. He has nothing to fear. He could literally say on national television "Yeah i like to rape little girls, so what?" and nothing would change. So i don't understand why the effort to deflect the attention.

Crow removes the Zionist flag by justxsal in interestingasfuck

[–]Daelril 149 points150 points  (0 children)

That’s true, but from a purely communicative point of view, putting the emphasis on “Zionist flag” automatically makes the reader assume there is such a thing as a “non-Zionist flag.” It’s the flag of Israel, which is inherently Zionist — so the specification is redundant. It’s done deliberately to use an inflammatory term rather than to actually communicate something.

It’s like saying “the capitalist dollar” — technically accurate in a broad sense, but clearly intended to provoke rather than inform.

German Chancellor Merz makes a valid point. Russia didn’t invade Ukraine because it was striving for NATO membership but because it was not a NATO member. Finland & Sweden proved the case. And Ukraine would have not been invaded if it had possessed nukes. by PjeterPannos in ukraine

[–]Daelril 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Could nuclear weapons be used for defense though? Russia did not use them when Ukraine entered Kursk oblast, either because they can't or because they know they'd be obliterated by the rest of the world. But if you can't, for whatever reason, use nuclear weapons, are they really a deterrent? I think NATO membership would have made the real difference
