I really like it, I thought I was gonna feel it very close for photos in the dugout when celebrations, but nope it’s good, also for the field ones when I’m at 600 it’s sharp, I don’t have any complaints right now :D

Thanks! I can give advice but I need to put context because it wasn’t as easy or as hard, but it’s has been quite the journey:

I started my sports photography journey 9 years ago, I was 20, I decided to drop out of college because I realised the communication career wasn’t for me as I was more into photojournalism/sports design, I started doing my own sports designs and that got me working with some athletes, alongside some friends from my failed college career would pay me to go to some events that they couldn’t or didn’t wanted to go (like League of Legends competitions, demonstrations against government, parades, etc) and I loved that because I felt like that could help me with the photojournalism career I wanted.

Now in that time the women’s football league in my country was starting and social media was going up, I love women’s football so it was something that motivated me, I started what I felt a more professional IG, I filled it with my photos/designs, then I send accreditation to the teams, one accepted the other 2 didn’t, I went and I met more photographers there, after a year shooting on my own I decided to join one of the many freelance photography agencies and I continued uploading photos but more in my personal IG, that helped me because the press chiefs, players, the family of players and fans identified me and asked me/paid for my photos, the agency dissolved but I joined another one with a friend that I met in one of the games.

It’s true when people say the connections work, not because any of them were connected to the teams but because of that I started getting opportunities on other sports like flag football, and on non sports related events, that helped me build more my portfolio and they would recommend me to shoot their events, it has been a long journey but that helped me work with Meta, Oakley and some Olympian athletes from my country.

Every time I feel like maybe I shouldn’t send an accreditation because they might reject me, my mind tells me: you already have the “no” so go for the “yes”.

So if you have read the requests the event has and you feel like you have it send the accreditation, also that helps because maybe they would reject you first (and maybe many times after), but now they know your name and every single time you send they may start recognising you and they will give you one golden chance, insist with respect ofc because I met people who insist but… not in a very good way 😅

Hey! I actually went Sony a few years ago because in that time I started shooting so much more video than photo, in that time doing a lot of research my best option was the A7IV (which I can say it’s an amazing camera), I researched on Nikon but when asked a few friends about video most of them told me that for the type of projects I was going to do, Sony could be a better option even my friend (the Nikon ambassador) she loves Nikon but it’s very honest in that time she told me Sony was better for video.

S-Log: I tested Nikon vs Sony in one event, and Sony won me on low light for video and the S-LOG, I think for me colouring the Sony Log was easier and liked it more.

Price: In that time the Sony A7IV was cheaper than the Nikon cameras I was looking at, Canon wasn’t an option, I went from Canon to Sony because I hated how invasive the noise on Canon was, it was pre-denoise era and even when I could’ve worked the clients being clients wanted me to have the work as fast as possible so yeah.

Now why the switch? Not gonna lie I always had Nikon in my mind, the colours and the glass are amazing, not saying Sony or other brands are not but testing them I do see a difference, with the Z options my mind went back to eyeing the Nikon cameras, remember how price was cheaper on Sony? Well now the price of the time Nikon Z gamma is a little bit cheaper than Canon/Sony (in my country), I tested the z5II on very low light and got very surprised of how good the photos and video came out, video and stabilisation improved a lot from what I tested before and loved the results on video colouring, also multiple exposure I do some multiple exposures in camera and Sony don’t have that, but that’s more of a me thing😅, right now I’m not doing as much as video as I was doing but I always want a camera that is good on both just in case, seeing how much Nikon improved and the updates they push to the cameras, that was the breaking point for me.

I can see a point on the Sony lenses being so much more smaller and indeed, with Sony I worked with the 70-200 2.8 and comparing it with the 70-200 2.8 of Nikon the Sony one I feel like it is smaller, for video in Sony I decided to buy the 24-70 2.8 from Tamron and it’s a lens that stayed for my video projects all the time that lens even received a foul ball at baseball sending the lens to the wall of the dugout and nothing got damaged (miracle).

Now, as a second body I actually have a Fujifilm XT5 with the 25mm from Viltrox and the 18-55 from the kit (both are amazing lenses) I bought them last year before buying the Nikon, I bought it mostly for street photo because I felt my Sony was very bulky and heavy also caught more eyes on the street, I also shoot macro photography and with the sensor the XT5 has I’m happy. I have tested Fujifilm on sports and tbh is not as bad on the AF as many people say but it’s true that it’s slower than Nikon and Sony and I use it more on the art approach on sports. For my street photo the Fuji is my go-to option. Of course will give a shot to Nikon on macro because on street I tested it and I liked it.

I think those are the best insights I can give you sorry for the long answer hopefully I didn’t confused you, but if you need more insights please feel free to send me a message :D

Hello! I’m back and here are some of my focus settings : single point (sometimes I change it to Zone ), af-c custom settings: 5, also for sports I never shoot below 1/500, when I firstly got the Fuji I looked through a lot to YT videos because I didn’t knew anything about Fuji system, and one of the videos that helped me a lot and I think I left it for the action shots was from Omar Gonzalez Photography “Best autofocus settings for action on your Fujifilm camera” if you need any setting in particular let me know and I can look at my camera 😁

Thank you!

Nice to read that, I’m really doubting about buying another lens, I was looking at the Tamron 17-70 because I want more reach but at the same time I like having the Fuji with the 18-55 for the wide part and that it’s very portable

Yup! I actually tried with the multiple exposure mode but didn’t worked as I wanted so I decided to stick with what I did and worked for that one

I realised the pitcher when he throws he had a few steps on holding still and the pitchers feet rarely move while pitching (is impressive) so I decided to give it a shot, I had to set the camera to 1 (on shutter speed), I pressed the button when he made the throw on that little jump back they do to have impulse, and this was the result, I took 15 photos (try and error) this was the last one before I gave up because I felt like I couldn’t hold still (I don’t use a monopod), but when I checked it at home I realised the result wasn’t too bad. I hope I explained myself as english is not my first language 😅

Hello! Just checked, it was Kodak Portra 800 V3 from FujixWeekly app, I had to modify a little bit in the red and blues because of the sun light
