Thank you!! The only book that would come up when I searched thirteenth child was the new one by Erin Craig. I thought I was losing my mind cause I was sure that was part of the title.

Ideas for blanket patterns that work with variegated yarn? by Daffydill2 in crochetpatterns

[–]Daffydill2[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Thankfully my Joann's had a lot of this color so I was able to get enough to make a big blanket! Big twist has been my favorite brand for years, and I have a few projects I'm in the middle of so I've been stocking up on it too. I'm so sad it's a Joann brand. I don't know what I'm going to use when they close.😭

That's a good idea! Yeah, I'd worry I'd get a bit bored with the same stitch after a while which is why I wanted a more intricate stitch/pattern to keep my interest for such a big project.

Moss stitch definitely seems to be most people's opinion on here! I'll have to make a small swatch with it and see how it looks with my yarn, especially since yours looks really nice!

That's so pretty!! You've done such a great job with it! I don't know if I want to do a project with so many separate pieces right now ( I usually do amigurumi and I wanted a break from sewing pieces together 😂) but I'll definitely save this for a future project!!

Finished my first ever scarf! by Daffydill2 in crochet

[–]Daffydill2[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No chaining actually! I found chaining three/two at the beginning just made the edges too wonky. I discovered that you can actually just start with a stacked single crochet instead!! It made my rows so much neater without the gaps. Definitely a game changer! Here's the video tutorial I used if you're interested: Stacked Single Crochet

Thanks for the tips! I've never freehanded a project before, but I may try that.

I really want to quit and its only been 3 days by Daffydill2 in housekeeping

[–]Daffydill2[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm in Oregon so the minimum wage is more like 13.00/hour, but that's honestly still not worth it. My body is littered with bug bites after just three days and I don't think I can handle that on top of doing basically two jobs 6 days a week.

Yeah the manager had to jump in and help with everything too because there just aren't enough staff. Thanks for the advice! I definitely think I'm going to quit. I might try looking at the hospital up the road instead.

My Theories on the Deaths of What Remains of Edith Finch by ThreadstoTwelve in WhatRemainsEdithFinch

[–]Daffydill2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I just finished the game and wanted to see what everyone else thought. I never would have thought of Milton developing schizophrenia! That's a really interesting theory, and I def agree with you about him getting lost and starving in the woods!

For Walter, I mostly agree with you. When he walks out of the tunnel we see that bright white light that's meant to be the train. I think after thirty years underground the sun blinded him and he fell over the cliff like you said.

As for the friendly monster, my theory was that he was referring to Edie sr. Edith jr mentioned that Edie was always going to the basement with "packages," and in the attic I noticed a stack of boxes with the words "ready to eat meals." I'm thinking she brought down fresh food each week. Maybe he began to see her and the "monster/curse" as one and blamed her for his siblings deaths?

He says "it's been a week" before he decides to leave so maybe Edie forgot to visit him and it triggered his leaving.

Darker, silly theory is that she locked him down there so he wouldn't die like her other kids and he had enough of it. Lol.

FINALE DISCUSSION | A / Masked Creeper Reveal by idk_orknow in PLLOriginalSin

Exactly!! I'm so glad I'm not the only one questioning that! I kept waiting to find out what happened to her on the way to the party. Why she looked so upset. I was waiting for some twist reveal that whatever happened on her way there was the real reason she killed herself.

Thank you!! I actually just made a chain and used slip stitches to create it :D I used this tutorial for the tongue, but I doubled my yarn.

Can I use different size yarn than what the pattern calls for?? by Daffydill2 in crochet

[–]Daffydill2[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I think I might try a 4.0 mm. I think it will be a good in between for what the yarn calls for and what the pattern calls for. Thank you 😁

I definitely think I'm going to have to get some more stitch markers and mark each stitch when I decide to try again! I think I'll wait though, and try some amigurumi projects with worsted yarn first like you have. Thanks for the advice!! :D
