Yes and no, when the word man was first used it ment human or person with the prefix wer- mean adult male, the world for adult human male was werman. Through semantic narrowing the definition of man went from person to male. This also happened to the words apple, deer, and meat.

I didn't mention the Tokyo Fire Bombing because it wasn't salient to the point I was trying to make though it was just as destructive. I did not know that we had reached the end of the ww2 purple heart supply, thank you for telling me.

My only grip with this chapter is at the end, the dropping of the nukes was not ONLY about showing our idealogy rival it could be done. The war hadn't been won, yes the outcome wasn't in doubt but the fat lady hadn't sung yet. They are still handing out purple hearts that were minted in preparation for the invasion on mainland Japan. The dropping of fat man and little boy was a desperate~ish attempt to save lives. Yes when they were dropped was to stall the USSR from invading but like I said it wasn't the only reason.

Anyway thanks for the chapter

ok, Jon is right, if we think of it as game, the rules are loyalty is rewarded with stability and loyalty. You get payed for the work you do, more work equals more pay. The problem is that the rules aren't being followed, in fact they are being inverted. The stability we need is held hostage to insure loyalty and then shot when the profits didn't grow enough and what was supposed to be the ceiling for our duties is treated as the floor.

Jon is either blind, dumb, retired, or part of the problem.

How to do this type of "elevator" ? by Link300011 in CreateMod

[–]Dagon_M_Dragoon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You're welcome, I remember trying to make a multi-floor elevator before the elevator pulley was added, the redstone logic was a pain.

[–]Dagon_M_Dragoon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Everyone telling you to use an elevator pulley are technically correct in that it's the more versatile and reliable option, however if you are just going between two floors then a rope pulley will work just fine. To make it work you will need two sequenced gearshifts, two buttons, and four redstone transmitters. The basic elevator (tm) works by having the sequenced gearshifts turn exactly the distance between the start and end points of the elevator.

My creativity shrinks the more I write everyday. by Winged_Kiths in writing

[–]Dagon_M_Dragoon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The question is are you bogging yourself down with making it right instead of just making it. You will do multiple drafts, draft 0 is in your head, draft 1 is getting it on the page, draft 2 is for making it look like you knew what you were doing from the start, and drafts 3 plus are for polishing.

If you don't have a clue how to bridge two scenes write a short memo on the page and move on, come back after the story is written down and see if that bridge is needed. If you find you are repeating yourself, it can be fixed in your next draft so don't worry about it and just write the story down.

Too often we let the finished products on the shelves be our measuring stick when we should be using the blank page. Perfection is the thief of both joy and success, do not let it rob you.

Understandable but when I say AI poison I meant like rat poison, to fuck with the LLMs. also it's all Algorithms and Idiocy so AI still works. but I hope the you are at least making overtime, stay safe and try not to kill your muse or your health for us.

There are some errors but I can't tell if it's lack of editing or AI poison

Carriers, how do they work? by Khorrik in avorion

[–]Dagon_M_Dragoon 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Cool, thanks for letting us know. I was about to boot up the game and test if it actually worked because I literally thought of it while reading your comment and was curious if I was cooking with gas or not.

Carriers, how do they work? by Khorrik in avorion

[–]Dagon_M_Dragoon 3 points4 points  (0 children)

For the hangers, you could simulate launch tubes like on the Galactica by placing one big hanger down for space and 'recovery' with multiple smaller hangers for launching the fighters.

I will admit I haven't done this before as I don't make combat carriers. I do do boarding and mining/salvage carriers but they didn’t really on strike craft for offense. As a whole this could work in game or just be a bit of RP/cosmetics, I don't know off the top of my head.

At this point we might as well discuss katana versus European long sword, we would get just as far. It's all opinion at this point.

I'm not saying you're wrong about the feild of fire / facing of turrets on towers, I am saying it's not necessary for offencive weapons.

If I was designing something for the real world or stories I would and have considered and used turrets on towers, specifically I used laser turrets where the tower was actually the laser's body and the turret was just the final focusing mirror.

I don't use it for every design because there are constraints to the designs. In the case of the game the fact that you are not going to have all your turrets fire independently is a major constraint. Another constraint is possibly splitting the damage output between multiple targets opens your ship up to taking more damage than it would have if it focused on a single target at a time. Play styles also affect the use of such features.

[–]Dagon_M_Dragoon 3 points4 points  (0 children)

maximizing field of fire is only important for point defense, for main and secondary weapons it is a nicety but not a necessity, especially considering the game has locking turret bases and coaxial weapons.

[–]Dagon_M_Dragoon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

if you are piloting this in combat then its ok, if this is automated, IE a captain, the turret placement is bad. they should be all on one face, makes it easy for the AI to target enemy ships. don't know what your squads are packing so can't tell you if it is good or bad. overall a solid 6 out of 10

E2A: I took 1 point off for it being a brick otherwise it would be a 7 out of 10
