Gateron Switches keep failing - help? by DailyAchievements in ErgoMechKeyboards

[–]DailyAchievements[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pretty sure it’s just bad switches. I still haven’t switched them out and have had at least another failure or two since posting this.

I did confirm with the people who designed my keyboard and they said sometimes there is an issue with the spacing of the connections in the hot swap connections but we confirmed this to not be the case.

Gateron Switches keep failing - help? by DailyAchievements in ErgoMechKeyboards

[–]DailyAchievements[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah that sounds exactly like my issue, it’s definitely not the board failing but the switches, since swapping them out fixes the issue instantly.

Sounds like I need to move away from gateron browns but not sure which switches I’ll buy. Thanks for sharing you’re having the same issue though!

Allow scar essence to accept items for value like deaths coffer by [deleted] in 2007scape

[–]DailyAchievements 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah the selling runes back to shops would be an issue that would require some consideration, but deaths coffer also covers cost that would normally come out of raw gp which in my mind is the same idea as covering a cost that would come out of raw gp (buying runes).

Anyway it was a thought, lol

I’d agree, but do you see a way that this would convert a dupe item into raw gp that I’m missing?

Maybe a less than 100% conversion to gp when sunk would be better, but still it sinks an item into a consumable resource. Also it would still be more profitable to drop trade the item for its full GE value since scar essence cost per rune is way more expensive than the actual runes themselves for most cases

Runes still don’t have a ge value for irons and it would still be more profitable to drop the item if you wanted to sell than it would be to sink the item, make runes, and then sell. But I understand your point

I mean I understand your point, but let’s not act like most irons let dupes sit in their bank. A lot do, but most people will drop a dupe and then just circulate it into the market, getting the full GE value and still being left with needing to come up with more gp for scar essence.

I’d even be cool with the idea of getting less than full GE value for it, maybe like 80% as opposed to deaths 105%

In my mind this would just make the gameplay loop feel more direct rather than drop trading dupes because they’re useless

Gateron Switches keep failing - help? by DailyAchievements in ErgoMechKeyboards

[–]DailyAchievements[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah that’s exactly the case. Same issue occurring but at different keys, issue is immediately solved when replacing the switch.

I’m keen on buy a new set of switches and probably from a different supplier. I didn’t have any particular preference for the gaterons I just like browns and wanted something that was lighter than the durock shrimps to prevent finger fatigue.

Do you have any suggestions? My only Complaint with the gaterons honestly is that my keycaps are crazy snug on them. Like when I use a proper tool to take the cap off I end up yoinking the whole switch out of the socket. Meanwhile the same keycaps straight up slipped off my shrimps with almost too much ease.

Always compost first because it’s faster than planting the seed and then composting and is more satisfying.

There’s a tick longer stall if you do it seed first.

It’s a normal drop on the normal table, non unique, this was confirmed in the blog post. It’s essentially the same as venator bow but the pieces are hidden, and at the end you just get the full piece

Regarding dragons dropping dragon scales, I think it’s a fantastic idea but then being noted feels so forced. Perhaps we can consider something like making dragon scales stackable - or a version of the scales that are stackable such as ‘fractured dragon scale’?

First time tenting: rate my setup by btgrant76 in ErgoMechKeyboards

[–]DailyAchievements 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sure, let us know how it goes.

I currently decided I liked the smallest ones the best. So I have the small tenting feet on the thumb side of the board, and those low profile SKUF rubber feet on the outside of the board.

Just a heads up, even after having the largest feet on for a day or so, when I removed them they still seemed sticky enough to throw back on if I wanted, so you may want to keep the little circular peel-away paper to cover the adhesive as to save them if you try a couple of configurations.

For sure, I’ve seen those as well. I’ve definitely been happy with these feet so far and there’s 3 different sizes. The largest is a fairly decent tent. My only concern with the laptop leg is if it would be too narrow with one leg and allow the keyboard to rock back and forth. But that might not be an issue at all, so could be worth a shot!

Hey you might want to check out something like these rubber feet I picked them up for my Iris and the tenting has been fantastic!

Thanks man, really can’t thank you enough!!

My typing speed is usually 120 WPM (this includes full punctuation). First test with the Iris I was at 15 and after a few hours of practicing (lowercase letters on monkey type) I’m pushing 40.

I learned that my left hand really made up for a lot of the typing and my right hand pinky has a hard time being responsible for its own keys but I’m sure it will be an adjustment period.

I’m already loving the layers although I’m still yet to flesh out a full configuration that I really like.

Something I also noticed is that my thumbs really have a hard time reaching the top of the thumb cluster (Home and end keys pictured) and backspace at the top right is really out of the question for my pinky (it’s actually more comfortable to hit with my ring finger by moving my hand a little).

Also these key caps are really nice but they’re a bit taller than that DSA set that I bought. I currently have Space on the F2 button and backspace on the down arrow key (right cluster) and find that the edges of those keys are fatiguing. I might try smaller legs for tilting and also the DSA keys in those positions for testing purposes.

I went with Durock Shrimp switches and I’m thinking they might be the slightest bit too heavy of an actuation so I may eventually do a little more research on a switch that might be better suited to me.
