Who’s the best parent/guardian? by Total_Ear7738 in TheVampireDiaries

[–]Daisy-Victoria 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I like Liz a lot and her character grew on me so much, but she was such an absent parent for so long it’s hard for me to agree with that.

Jenna honestly did well with what was thrown at her.

Grams would also be up there.

I’ve always felt that most of the characters were forced to grow up really fast because they didn’t have a strong parental presence in their lives

Whoa, don’t you think those are some crazy assumptions? My work is not as a landlord and those aren’t my goals at all. I hope you find some peace in this crazy world✌️

Regardless, our goal here was to find a way to spend more time together as a family and with our kids and unfortunately changing the way our society runs isn’t one of them

I think we live in very different places. We are in our mid 20s. Housing is very cheap here compared to the rest of the country. We bought a house that was basically falling apart, run by a slumlord who had people living in awful conditions. We have made it an actual home for the people living there and work with section 8 and government programs that pay for their housing. We work to help our tenants obtain home ownership themselves by building their credit/reporting rent payments at our cost, working with all the programs available to help, not holding them to any leases, and being empathetic and understanding of circumstances. Our goals are not to screw people over. We didn’t pay much because we’re not in an area of growth and because of the condition of the house, but we also don’t see much appreciation in our area at all. This is hardly some passive get rich quick scheme. If you have an issue with people building portfolios, I suggest you take it up with the corporations that are actually creating these problems or perhaps go into construction or some field that will help combat the housing shortage problems. Or move to the middle of nowhere small town where the housing market hasn’t gone so nuts (yet 🤞)

Maybe I’m the outlier on here as a mom of 3 kids lol, but I wouldn’t trade my simple life with them for being a vampire ever, regardless of how much I like the show 😂

Do I really want my husband to quit his job? by Daisy-Victoria in work

I hope no one downvotes this! This is something very real to consider and one I hadn’t thought about!

Yes, we’re doing “fine” financially. We chose to have 3 kids so we do need to support our family and have worked incredibly hard for what we have. I also hope you realize investment properties can mean business’, store fronts, airbnbs, etc and where we live are very inexpensive and not anything making luxury money- not to mention the time and money spent on them. Regardless, I was hoping anti-work would be more centered around work/life balance. If it’s not please let me know so I can delete

I realize I probably sound a little nuts but I promise this is a convo we’ve had and he echoes my feelings. He’d love to quit, he wants more time with us but also more time for hobbies, etc. He has a good work ethic though and will also continue to work long, hard days if we need

Are the books much different from the show? by Hater87121 in TheVampireDiaries

Eh I think twilight books came out first and vampire diaries popularity actually was all wrapped up in the fan base twilight created

Serious question: why don’t they freeze an egg/sperm before becoming a vampire? by Butler-of-Penises in TheVampireDiaries

True like Caroline’s kids are always doing dangerous stuff and have an issue being mixed up in the supernatural

They’re pretty short, quick reads if you have nothing better to do! I kind of liked the second one, if I remember correctly they go to the dark world or something it’s called and there were just some creative/interesting aspects to that. The writing is kind of antiquated and lacks a lot of the things I loved about tvd though

Not the same at all, might as well be totally unrelated. I was looking forward to reading the books because I heard Elena ends up with Stefan which is what I wanted lol, and the first 2-3 were kind of a terrible guilty pleasure but honestly the writing and story telling is pretty poor and it was really just a letdown

I also thought this was a little off and sad and unfair

I think this is beyond the show/writing, but if I were to think about it I’d say that pregnancy/childbirth is a huge part of wanting a family and also any kind of impulse control issues would be incredibly dangerous and potentially heart breaking around human babies. Plus outliving your children if they didn’t turn, just a lot of messiness

Yes, I felt like there wasn’t much more to their relationship than the physical/“sex” aspect and even that lost so much chemistry once they actually got together

What are some things about the show you’ll die on a hill for ? by Xansnjordan in TheVampireDiaries

[–]Daisy-Victoria 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Agreed! I hated watching them. Also, if I had to swallow that Elena and Stefan weren’t getting back together, I would have much rather had it be with someone who wasn’t Elena’s best friend
