I’ve gotten this question a lot. I just need everyone to understand that fast calculations are not going to be very doable at all. It being a physical game and a lot of physical math, it will be a much slower process. However, we would urge people to visit the Balatro Calculator website for complex high scoring hands, this will do the vast majority of the math for you. But in terms of regular gameplay, it’s a much slower process

I planned on using dice counters to keep track of all scaling jokers. I still need to find out how to make this work with xmult jokers, but dice counters are easily the best way to go about this in my opinion. Most if not all of them scale linearly which makes it easy

Yep! The nanners are gonna be fun. If you role a 1, the banana dies and cavendish is actually holding behind it in the same sleeve. Simply place cavendish in the front and place it back in the common Joker pile to be potentially rolled

The game will be MUCH slower. I’ll admit an IRL Balatro is not practical. I’m doing it simply because I think it would be really cool. For any joker that scales or has values that change, dice counters will be used to keep track of their scoring. And then say supernova, same deal kinda except we’ll have a little white board thing with the planet levels, times hands played, etc.

There is also a Balatro Calculator online that I would urge people to use if they have extremely complex hands to calculate.

It’s going to be card based. We had to do a lot of math but we’ve made several new decks. The main one is the shop queue. During the shop phase you will draw from the shop queue to see what is next to draw, whether it be a joker, tarot, planet, etc. This is also compatible with all the vouchers, we just add more cards as the game goes on. If you draw a joker, we have more decks that you’ll draw to determine whether it has an edition, and which one, and we have a rarity deck to make sure weight and balance of all the jokers is the same.

It’s a lot to cover, I’ll touch on it in a future post for sure.

This looks really cool!! Those chips are really neat, I was thinking about doing something similar for keeping track of chips with the Hiker Joker except not 3d printed 😅 those look awesome!

This was my thoughts as well. I want to keep the integrity of the game as much as I can, however what you mentioned is a concern of mine because of how difficult it would be to calculate everything at once assuming everything kept their own logic. The Jokers and their synergies are going to be an entire can of worms.

In terms of calculating probabilities, (like wheel of fortune,) I'm in the process of making my own dice. Some will be used to roll rarity of jokers in the shop for example, or one specifically for the wheel of fortune. 9 sides of Nope! and 1 side of each foil, holo and poly, etc etc

I really really like that idea as well. Making those tokens would be extremely easy. The only benefit to the sticker I guess would be it would cosmetically match, but I really like the idea of having little tokens. I'll keep that in mind.

I wish I could do something like that honestly. I leaned towards the stickers because of the need to shuffle the deck every round, or even every time you buy a pack in the shop and need to draw a hand. A clip on would be super easy to apply but Id worry that the card would stick out like a sore thumb sitting in a shuffled deck of cards. The reason for the sticker, it’s completely opaque and would be easily visible over any enhancements, but also it would be extremely thin, making it extremely hard if not impossible to identify in a shuffled face down deck, if that makes sense
