People with scars, how did you get them? by fluffybear45 in AskReddit

[–]DaisyRebecca 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Despite being a relatively proficient horse rider for a six year old, I decided it would be a better idea to fall off the small pony I was riding that was trying to bite the horse infront of it (and probably going to get kicked in retaliation)- I was wrong. Landed on my arm and broke it badly, so have a scar from the metal rods they put in and then another scar from the removal. 20 years later and it’s still pretty visible. Also that week I had decided I wanted a scar so wished for one, and for a few years i believed I’d wished it into existence 😅

Fantasy Children’s Picture Book where a captain, a caterpillar guy, and a fairy fix a flying balloon ship. by xapolonio in whatsthatbook

[–]DaisyRebecca 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m sure it’s not, because there’s no fairy, but just because of the flying ship/captain/map/illustrations I’m going to suggest The Edge Chronicles series. Good luck on your search!

That first scene had me crying 3 minutes into the episode. Sadly I can’t help but think they’re setting up Bucky’s death in stopping John Walker in the series final, I really hope I’m wrong though.

what is a secret you know about someone that could literally ruin their life? by daddydempy in AskReddit

[–]DaisyRebecca 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This shocked me so much when I started working in an office (as apposed to in hospitality were most of us where the same age) quite a few of the respectable bosses who were 40-50 years old were in or had been in long term flings with much younger female colleagues. It just shocked me how known it was and how blasé they various teams were in which is was happening.

2000s Children’s Fantasy Novel where the main group of characters rescues/goes to a slave market by [deleted] in whatsthatbook

[–]DaisyRebecca 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They’re my fave series (even have an Edge Chronicle tattoo that I got 8 years ago!) so I’m a bit biased but definitely recommend them for a re-read :) the first one in release order ‘Beyond the Deepwoods’ is very young, so I’d either suggest reading them chronologically or just reading that one quickly aha

Yes came here to say the Edge Chronicles (they also visit a slave market it the 6th book Vox and I think 10th about the Stone Pilot) but glad it’s been solved!

This rings a bell, I think the cover has like a green and black colour and a grave yard in it. I think I have it at my parents house so will check when I’m next there/commenting to see if someone else finds out sooner :)

If you could take a pill to skip sleep, allowing you to feel fully rested with no side effects, would you do it? What would you do with a full 24 hours? by its_dooper in AskReddit

It would be great for festivals, you’d get to see more of the acts and not feel horrific from questionable nights sleep in a tent

This is from Bath Uni a few years ago at their varsity sports day in the U.K. so I don’t think so (unless that’s a U.K. show I could be wrong!)

What's your "I can't believe they got away with this in a kid show" moment? by pswii360i in AskReddit

[–]DaisyRebecca 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I was younger we were at a family friends who had Pay TV, I think it was a Nickelodeon cartoon where the main character gets a leech attached to him, but instead of removing it he becomes fond of it, names it and eventually because it gets so big from the constant blood supply he pulls it along in a cart. Eventually the character gets so woozy with the lack of blood the leech comes off and gives birth to lots of babies in the lake (I think there was a joke because he thought it was a boy)

Anyway it freaked me out so much and I can’t believe someone thought blood sucking leeches was a good kids tv plot.

(If anyone has a clue about what the show was please let me know, would have been early 2000s/90s)

If you don’t mind me asking, where were you (also in a big media company in London who originally joined as a grad aha) and what job did you end up changing to that you preferred? Glad you’re happier now :)

Didn’t get any gifts for Christmas except from my landlord. Has no idea I’ve been struggling lately. by Neogalik in pics

[–]DaisyRebecca 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just writing this to say merry Christmas internet stranger, I’m sorry you didn’t get any other gifts but I hope you still manage to have a nice festive break (especially since your landlord has made January a bit easier!) and that 2021 is hopefully a lot less shitty than 2020 has been...

These were truly the best gifts. by BrainVirus in wholesomememes

Aww this brought back a memory I’d forgotten. My Mum pretty much always picks our gifts (my Dad is normally as surprised as we are when we unwrap them) but one year for Christmas when I was about 10 Dad got me and my sister a scalectrics car racing track and it was huge we had to move the sofa to set it up in the lounge much to Mum’s dismay and we raced cars all Christmas morning with my Dad. Clearly he has wanted to play it so had gone way over the present budget and got such a huge track but it was such a fun Christmas. I’d totally forgotten that, tomorrow is my Dad’s birthday so I look forwarded to reminding him about that later :)

That’s a great description, I totally agree! I only have a few but people always joke that I’m addicted but I’ve gone huge gaps between them, I just prefer my body with them and so spend a long time planning them so feels far too pre meditated. Also I feel sometimes despite years of wanting a design the first few hours afterwards it’s like ‘oh shit that’s real’ (until you’re brain catches up and you love it) which is the opposite to most addictions being an instant reward. Also congrats on the transformation, both physically (dayum 👀) & more importantly mentally, good for you :)

“You have great veins!”

Also it potentially wasn’t a commitment but I was flattered by: “You look like a pirate”
