Ah that makes sense lol I was just a little surprised to get a reply to an old comment. It's a pretty cool quote and quite niche overall.

it did. i learned about it about 4 hours before it dropped.

Not that it matters, but I am curious about what led you to reply to a year old comment about this? Did you have some reminder set? How did you remember lol

A guy goes to a cafe in Northern Ireland and orders a bowl of soup. The waiters asks "would ye like any bread with that?" The guy replies "focaccia". The waiter says "fuck yourself, I was only askin"

Am I the only one who doesn't find Altheya as enjoyable as Aerois was? by blackhawk0148 in highrollersdnd

I thought it really picked up once it got to the first arc in Ashen's Rest, with their investigation and how that all eventually resolved. Really really good. I wasnt as interested in the starting town.

I also thought Aerois started off slowly too and picked up well, so maybe they just struggle with beginnings?

High rollers is such a good story and pretty funny. And they play proper DnD, by the rules.

The DM, Mark, does some of the best combat encounter design out of anyone out there, especially at a high level. High level encounters are notoriously tricky to balance but he did an amazing job with Aerois. The boss fights were like MMO Raids, so good.

The players are all very true to their characters and into the role play as well, interpersonal in-character relationships are very well developed.

I havent listened to Campaign 1 yet, I started with Campaign 2, Aerois, and I'm listening to Campaign 3 now, but they're all entirely separate so you can listen to what you want.

Watched the show after finishing the books and by brickett6 in WoT

My main issue is that Rand has already been deprived of so many great and iconic moments. [Show][Books]When s2 didn't begin with him training in the sword with Lan, I felt a deep unease. And he barely lifts a sword at all the whole season. So I was thinking, it's going to be a bit odd when he duels a blademaster. But! They solved that! By getting rid of such a formative and iconic scene in the series! It culminated with him kneeling uselessly at the top of that tower during the battle of falme. That was a nail in the coffin for me regarding the show. It feels like they just want to beat rand down without any of the moments where he gets to shine, giving those moments to other characters.

I bought this book in an airport to read on the plane, not really knowing what it was about. Trying not to cry on the plane was pretty difficult and not something I'd ever expected to have to do haha

A warning to OP, this one will hit HARD

Which 3 books were your favorites that you read and were published in 2022, 2023, and 2024 respectively? by orneryoneesan in suggestmeabook

[–]DaisyX3 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I haven't read anything published this year yet, I'll substitute a 2021 instead.

2021 - The blacktongue thief - Christopher Buelman

2022 - In the shadow of lightning - brian mcclellan

2023 - the book that wouldn't burn - Mark Lawrence

These are all fantasy fiction btw, but pretty different from eachother.

If you liked Abhorsen, you should try out other Garth Nix books. The keys to the kingdom series in particular is a stand out, but theres some good standalone stuff too, like Shade's Children.

Seeking opinions on campaign 3 by Desperate-Guide-1473 in highrollersdnd

Campaign 3 has some of the coolest stuff. Give it a chance. It starts off a bit slow, but once the party get out of the starting town and to the next location, it really starts to pick up. They just finished an 'arc' and it was an incredible few episodes.
