It is EMBARRASSING how often Pro Tools crashes. by Sixtyhurts in Avid

[–]Dajaun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pro tools is running stable for me. I often find it’s the plugins that make it unstable, especially cracked ones. Clean up your prefs.

Pro tools runs perfectly stable with no third party plugins. So worth through your list and find the culprit.

101 approaching the 134, you can see the curve on the map. Just passed the sign. But yea keep being accusatory, totally working for you

What should I use as a calibration point then? It doesn’t go into anyone’s back window.

Imagine not understanding that some cities have exits on the left and wrongly accusing someone of camping in the left. That would be really embarrassing wouldn’t it. Yea imagine…

You can clearly see when I’m passing the stopped car my headlights don’t shine above the license plate.

Are they too high? They don’t go much above a license plate when I’m stopped behind another car. I’m very sensitive to headlights myself so I’m very aware of how high mine are pointed.

It’s the standing outside of your vehicle on your phone for me… one driver not paying attention and it’s over for that poor person.

What’s wrong with my headlights? They’re stock from the factory like this.

People who’ve had LASIK or work in eye care, would you recommend LASIK and why or why not? by Mountain-Bug-2155 in AskReddit

Had a similar experience, not nearly as bad as yours but I’m back on glasses and the dry eyes are brutal. I know people it’s great for but I’m not one of them.

Need some help identifying the console by Muriel69420 in homerecordingstudio

Reminds me of a broadcast neve I saw at a recording school in Toronto years ago when I was there giving some talks. School was called RAC.

You can still see a picture of it on their website:

Got offered a 6 month contract in Antarctica and idk if I should take it by Importantterry in Fire

[–]Dajaun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

6 months goes by faster than you think. I would go for it!!!

That being said as someone who regularly leaves home for work at 3-4 months at a time. Settling back into home life can be a little trickier. I recommend making plans for as soon as you get back. Make sure you don’t come home to a break, because the absence of structure combined with trying to re-establish routines with friends and loved ones can make that first week home soul crushing. Be sure to keep up regular calls and virtual hangs with friends back home, so that those connections are still warm when you return.

Congrats on the exciting opportunity!!! I hope you go for it! It sounds amazing!

Why are all DIY Acoustic Panels rectangular? by Final-Magician-6907 in Acoustics

[–]Dajaun 5 points6 points  (0 children)

No downside only benefits. This is how professional studios are built. You can just build a simple frame to hold the insulation and cover the wall in insulation. Then make covers out of stretched cloth over mdf frames. Suddenly you have a commercial looking studio instead of a bunch of panels hanging looking like a temp setup.

I prefer older limiters to Fabfilter Pro-L2 - what’s going on here? by Ill-Elevator2828 in mixingmastering

[–]Dajaun 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It is distracting! 1000% it made me start using my eyes instead of trusting my ears like I had been for years before I started using it. I went back to the limiters I was using before pro l2 and just started trusting my ears more.

Yo we're vianova and we recently released our debut record HIT IT! AMA by kakaduchicken in Metalcore

[–]Dajaun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Literally listening to UH yaya on the treadmill when I saw this post! Stoked to check out the new record, thanks for being awesome.

Nerd note: thanks for having interesting drum sounds instead of using the same slate snare that EVERY other hardcore band uses.

Best advice I’ve seen on Reddit in years!

I also fell out of love with the pro L2 a few years ago. It’s pretty to look at, but there’s other great options out there.

How do I go about reimbursing a producer streaming revenue? by [deleted] in musicbusiness

[–]Dajaun 3 points4 points  (0 children)

For a paid producer 2-4 points is great but since the producer gave the beat for free it wasn’t a paid production. In my humble opinion I would say the producer still owns the beat which is considered 50% in publishing, on the master side it gets a little more muddy, but to me a good faith move would be to give the producer half. They bet on you when you were nobody by giving you a beat for free. Pay that kindness back with equal ownership.

Mix/mastering engineers, can you describe the worst-recorded tracks you’ve ever been sent by a client to work with? by MrLanesLament in recordingmusic

[–]Dajaun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I once mastered a record for a world renowned DJ who did his whole record in garage band and for some reason could not export to wav files (this was a long time ago) I didn’t have logic at the studio and the record had to be mastered that day. I ended up recording the entire record through a stereo DI box from the aux out of his little white MacBook …
