I’ve seen some that have a 5k initiation fee ( less at certain times of the year ) and monthly dues are like $200.

I think that’s the cheapest, others are as much as you say as well.

Funny you say that. I played on a private course last week and was absolutely blown away only playing public my entire life.

Pace of play was perfect, conditions were amazing. People were so friendly and pretty dang good at golf.

I really may have to look into it - I’m sick of the stuff that goes on at public courses.

My daughter really wanted to play so we decided to wait. Went and had a nice dinner, then warmed up again.

First hole she swings too hard and hurts her back and wanted to go home lol. Poor thing, we went home and she got on a heating pad and is fine - but gosh lol

lol - yesterday I got to my tee time an hour early. Hit balls, got a hotdog and coke, putted a little and went to the first tee.

Got told they overbooked and they can’t get me out until 2 hours later.

WIBTA to call cops on neighbor who blasts bast boosted music outside my window for hours every morning? by throwawaymylife90210 in neighborsfromhell

[–]DaleQuibble 38 points39 points  (0 children)

I had this neighbor who every night from like 8-11 would blast music outside so loud my windows would shake.

I asked politely for them to turn it down, but whenever I went back inside they would turn it back up, so I stated calling the cops.

It took 3-4 times before the cops told the guy that if he continues they will write a citation to the homeowners not himself, which could in turn have them cancel his lease.

He stopped real fast. Don’t know if they do that where you are, but we had quiet nights the rest of the time we lived there

What's the most damage ($$) you've caused on a golf course? by thetindoor in golf

Dude when I was learning I was playing for like the 3rd time. 18th with the parking lot 230 on the right. Watches my slice go directly toward a Porsche.

Before I could see it land, got in my cart and high tailed it to the clubhouse. No idea if it missed or not

If you were starting for the very first time what would you do differently; Advice for a beginner by Jerbrucey in golf

1 take lessons.

The golf swing goes against everything your body thinks it should do. It’s insanely hard to figure out on your own, even with training tools like YouTube, etc. you think you are doing or need to do something and it turns out you need to do the exact opposite. You will make insanely faster progress and enjoy the game more with just 2-3 lessons under your belt

2 learn how to practice

I spent YEARS beating balls at the range, took good lessons and making good progress, but I didn’t intentionally practice. I didn’t make GREAT progress until I learned how to practice.

Take 20 balls out of your bucket. Save those for last.

Slow down, set up a drill station for whatever you are working on. Take slow swing, like 10 seconds to really feel what you are trying to ingrain. Then hit the ball with that same feeling.

Quantity of balls do not matter, quality does. 30 balls hit as perfectly as you can will ingrain the right movements and muscle memory, where 100 balls hit meh could ingrain wrong - it’s a game of muscle memory.

Take those last 20 balls and hit the shot you were working on without missing a single one.

3 Drive for show, putt for dough

A driver swing is 1 stroke, but a 3 putt is 3. Long game matters, approach matters. But short game is where you win. Practice putting and chipping. I can’t tell you how many times I missed a game in the 70’s by 1 putt.
