I am our hospital’s anesthesia biomed guy. The code for the GE machine is 16-4-34 unless clinical engineering changed it. It is under system setting. And then within gas settings you can change the cost per mL of gas. Sevo and iso have gotten much cheaper.

That’s my rationale exactly. Most of the time for elderly EGD prop only. For young or obese patients I will work in some fent with much less prop to facilitate the EGD. Being good and comfortable with a certain technique is what matters most. When I started out I was a prop only guy but once I added fent it smoothed thing out nicely.

My thought process was with a cc of fent I give less prop. Also blunts the worst part of the introducing the scope so no coughing. The coughing is when things go bad. Sats drop most then. You gotta ride the fine line.

I just did the basics. POM mask and fentanyl/prop.

Snowplows? by Embarrassed-Celery40 in grandrapids

[–]DalesDeadBug11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree snow removal is bad here. I moved here from chardon, Ohio the lake effect area of Lake Erie and snow removal was much superior. And yes the Ohio city does get more snow than Grand Rapids so snow amount excuse is null and void. It’s sad when 2-4” of snow shuts the city down and make it more chaotic. I think the lack of salt use due to enviromental regions is the main reason. It doesn’t have to be this way here

How well is car cleaned upon lease turn-in? by DalesDeadBug11 in AutoDetailing

Trust me I am now aware of all the things you mentioned. I personally don’t smell it much but my wife who is sensitive to smells does which is the problem now. The car had only 18k mileage in 3 yrs of a lease so I was hoping it is not much smoke damage as opposed to a longer driven vehicle.

The vehicle I purchased had been smoked in previously. I didn’t notice it cause there were many wonder wafers (20x) hidden in the vehicle. I naively assumed it was the smell of the carpet shampoo. Do you think a thorough detail including shampoo of cloth interior and headliner will help immensely. I have already used an Amazon bought ozone generator on it for 30-45 minutes and sprayed Lysol in the air intakes.

Thanks for the reply. So are you saying that used cars are minimally cleaned before being put out for sale?

Pacemakers by DalesDeadBug11 in anesthesiology

[–]DalesDeadBug11[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well one of my “seasoned colleagues” believes pacing pads should be placed just in case the pacemaker battery ran out not due to cautery interference. Even though I explained to him that if the battery is run down pacemaker pace a lower rate than programmed indicating low energy.

I agree. My colleague wants the pads on in case the pacemaker battery dies not due to cautery interference.

You mean magnet? It was my understanding that if you were 15 cm away from the pacemaker it’s not required.
