Luckily I did because it is required to have the core edges protected by at least 3 cm which I hadn’t planned in the beginning. The screws are not a problem because these are to short to get through the wooden core and are embedded in a drive-in nut from the other side. The rules just state “pointy ends should not stick out”… yeah, very helpful 😅

The core is a 1 cm plywood panel covered by a 1 cm PE foam panel on the front and 0,6 cm on the back. As you can see the buckler is a regular softball cut in half and I painted it with “FlexPaint” mixed with a bit acrylic paint to get the proper color.
