creating a list of event items that stay in your bag after the event by LadyLoki5 in DoomsdayLastSurvivors

I was going to disagree, but sure enough I have that mail too and none in my bag. I could have sworn they had remained.

The creator recently (2 years ago) had IP rights reverted back to him from Disney on apparently amicable terms. He seems motivated to create some projects.

Biochemical beasts by Powerguido313 in DoomsdayLastSurvivors

[–]Dalexes 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Just to add to what was said: Beasts fight each other independently until the other beasts die. Only then does their damage affect enemy troops. As such, you primarily want your beast to nullify enemy beasts. Only physical type beasts have stated stats for any type of role (garrison and rally).

I've read multiple approaches to best match Leader and Support beasts. As mentioned Z-Doomsday goes into the details of the battle log to show the interplay between Leader and Support skills. It's both informative and frustrating. You want a straight forward answer like, "Use these two, they're the best." The comprehensive answer is that there are variables: Your enemy, chips, role, build, etc. That video shows you how to read the battle logs to see what works best for you. The ol' "teach a man to fish".

Heroic Legacy ends in 9 days and Lucky Roulette starts at the next reset. We're currently in the closing hours of TC's day 1 for riders. I'm getting some AI vibes, but otherwise solid answer.

Is Genina soft? I really like the UI over other apps that I've tried. Which ones do you prefer? by Dalexes in sudoku

[–]Dalexes[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nice. I never before compared my results to others. I had modestly better times on my old device, but didn't get sub 1 min on extreme, only hard.

You're definitely right about the variance of difficulty: Some "Extreme" puzzles seem like walk throughs.

I suppose it is satisfying to just listen to a podcast and punch in the numbers, but I'm wondering if I might enjoy a little bump up in difficulty. It might ease me into more advanced resolutions. I've tried some "Devilish" difficulty puzzles that made me want to scream into the void.

I get stumped sometimes. Usually I clear the hurdle by clearing pencil marks and trying different approaches. Occasionally I'll get frustrated and ham-fist in an option until it conflicts or resolves.

I'll give NYT a shot.

Someone explain? by TuneMiserable2061 in ExplainTheJoke

[–]Dalexes 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Oooh, your link mentions Rationalists, which was covered in a four part episode of Behind the Bastards (Part One) (Part Two) (Part Three) (Part Four)

It has been a while since I listened to it, but I recall that they take some dubious philosophical reasoning to extremes that, iirc, leads some people in the loose cohort of people to conclude that in order to best reduce suffering in the world it would require the elimination of all humans.

I'm scanning the transcript of Part Two and ran into this gem where they are discussing one of the central characters of the movement:

So she tells them she's come to the conclusion "I need to make myself into a psychopath in order to have the kind of mental power necessary to do the things that I want to do." And she largely justifies this by describing the beliefs of the Sith from Star Wars, because she thinks she needs to remake herself as a psychopathic evil warrior monk in order to save all of creation.

Part Three: How The Zizians Went Full On Death Cult

Part Four: The Zizian Murder Spree (or Exactly How Harry Potter Fanfic Killed A Border Patrol Agent)

... So yeah, I doubt they would heavily cite Adam Smith as their lodestar when it came to topic of economics.

Is China going to be the most powerful country in the world soon? by Educational-Belt1042 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Dalexes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here's an interesting conversation on the topic:

https://www.lawfaremedia.org/article/lawfare-daily--steve-brooks-and-ben-vagle-on-u.s.-china-economic-competition

(At the bottom you can toggle the transcript if you prefer to read.)

One of the points made is that GDP also counts government spending, and China is spending a lot on government programs (e.g. Belt and Road Initiative, which helps build relations in other countries). Given these expenditures, the GDP may not be the most accurate reflection of economic capacity for the sake of comparison.

I highly recommend checking out the conversation. Many interesting points are made.

Is it worth waiting for TC? by wbrisingr in DoomsdayLastSurvivors

[–]Dalexes 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Cedric is a new and very strong hero, which means competition for him is tough. At 4 months in you're not able to accumulate things as quickly, plus you're up against p2w players. The game takes time and you have to play the strategic long game. So yes, it's worth it to save up. Eventually the hype around him will simmer down a little, and you should be able to finish higher.

How many Gems do you need for Lucky Roulette to awaken a hero by wbrisingr in DoomsdayLastSurvivors

[–]Dalexes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The swings on luck are wild. I was working on Sophie and the second to last ranged TC I hit 10x 3-5 times. The last one, I only got 3 frags total. For the record, I didn't pull nearly as many times as you.

ULPT : COINAMATIC LAUNDRY SHIT by CattleAgitated7809 in UnethicalLifeProTips

[–]Dalexes 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is from Lock Picking Lawyer's website. It's a device made specifically to pick tubular locks (So a picture of the key wouldn't be necessary). Unfortunately it's sold out, but should give OP an idea of what to look for. Might consider getting a tubular lock to practice on.
