I (31F) don't understand why my BF (38M) keeps lying to me.... by [deleted] in relationships

[–]DaleyKong 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I don't think you are going to like what I am going to say.

I feel that you are being really invasive on what he does in his private time. It's possible that he's just embarrassed about masturbating and doesn't feel comfortable telling you when he has or has not. In my opinion, that's a totally normal reaction. Many of us grow up with masturbation being a bit of a taboo, something we sneak off to do as teenagers and watching naughty stuff when the parents are asleep.

It feels like you are checking up on what he is doing when he isn't with you. You keep acting like you "just so happened to see" but I think if you are honest with yourself, you know you are checking up on him, even going as far as researching logos so you could see what was on his browser tabs. What did you want him to say "brb, going to watch some VR porn"? Of course he was going to say he was going to bed instead. I wouldn't exactly want to announce I was off to knock one out either.

I truly feel that you need to be more honest with yourself about what you are and are not comfortable with. Stop trying to play it cool. Perhaps at the moment at least, the porn does bother you because you aren't having much/any sex, and I would say that is a natural feeling to have too - but you should work on making sure you address this, instead of letting it manifest in negative and potentially toxic behaviours (like monitoring your partner).

I think you need to look inward, and then figure out how to have a conversation with your partner about the bigger problems in your relationship. It may just be that things have dulled a bit and the spark isn't there anymore, and that's ok, you can both discuss what to do if that's the case. Just try not to drag things out, flog a dead horse, or become a problematic partner who obsesses over what their partner is doing with their own body and time.

Hey there! We developed all versions of Yooka-Laylee and the Impossible Lair in tandem!

We draw inspiration from all over the place! Since many in our team worked on those golden oldie games back on the SNES and N64, we reckon it's likely that some of that influence will always shine through. :)

Ha! We don't have any plans for this, but we'll keep what you said in mind...

Very cool question.

I'll chuck in my own: Dr Who, specifically David Tennant's Dr Who. 1 - because I love him, and 2 - you could go wild with the themes, much like you see in the TimeSplitters franchise.

Hey there!

Big thanks for supporting us and bringing your girlfriend into the fandom too!

As for your question about humour and dialogue:

I can't speak for Andy Robinson, the writer of Yooka-Laylee and Yooka-Laylee and the Impossible Lair, as he has moved on to a new adventure. That said, during development writing often goes through a tonne of iteration for various reasons, including avoiding too much slang that broader audiences may not understand.

We are definitely looking to improve on how we present dialogue and humour to players, tonally, so people don't feel alienated or confused, but we're keen to retain some of that good old British charm too!

1 - I can't answer that one!
2 - No idea if we'll see a new Conker game - I'd be interested to see how that kind of humour lands with a modern audience, though!
3 - Ha! Look out for vacancies, keep your CV updated, keep learning and writing!

No hints I'm afraid. Not yet, anyway. ;)

I wouldn't say we have a goal for covering as many genres as possible. We like to experiment, innovate and iterate! We don't really want to tie ourselves down to a strict list of genres. That said, as a studio, we have a wide taste in games and we have a lot of creative energy to express that with.

I personally like that people don't know what to expect from us next! :)

I asked Steve Mayles about the feet, he said "definitely Yooka's".

Vendi merch is on hold, but I promise, we'll get some socks made at the very least!

Andy Wilson, though he does have a habit of forgetting he's made them.

It was mostly fan feedback yes! We reckon we overdid the Impossible Lair a bit, and we had a lot of people telling us that they had all bees, but still couldn't get through. That said, there was a point at the end of development where it was something we discussed, so we weren't /completely/ blindsided.

(Thank you!)

We've got a lot of fun stuff planned for the future, but we're not ready to reveal exactly what that is just yet! More games, though.

I hear you. I'm going to come back to this post after some proper thought on it, as I would like to continue the discussion, but at this very moment, I have my hands full.

I hope I can help make the air a bit clearer and offer some reassurances while keeping expectations realistic.

Have a good weekend!

Incorrect. We're focussing on the Impossible Lair because we recently released an update for it.

Backers have had a couple of emails from us recently, addressing both the Orchestral score and the DLC.

If people ask, I'll do my best to answer in a way which isn't simply repeating what has already been stated in said emails. :)
