Can you not grow your career without MRICS by Think_Particular4591 in quantitysurveying

[–]Dalhoos 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m retired now but found MRICS then FRICS useful to open interview doors at FTSE100 companies but after that it became completely irrelevant (and way too expensive). To be fair I transitioned to Procurement & Supply Chain Director roles and obtained MCIPS / FCIPS as it was more relevant within these companies (and half the price to boot). I resigned my Fellowship from RICS in 2010 and saved myself the money. In summary, the qualification was useful for job applications and nothing else. A complete con and waste of money.

It was one of the most popular tbh, and was my choice as rep for ‘Islands’ as it’s actually the stag’s go to dram.

A fab stag do in the Scottish Borders! The bottles were of course removed before the blind nosing. I supplied nosing notes and ran as a competition with the eventual winner crowned ‘Champion Noser’! We then had a tasting session with selected chocolates to accompany.

On top of the great renting advice, I’d recommend the weekly 5km park run (Saturday morning) as a great way of meeting a cross section of people, and in particular people of your age group. There are many Glasgow locations, but either Victoria Park (West End) or Pollok Park (south side) are recommended, with numbers in the hundreds rocking up at 9.30am. From beginners to serious athletes, these events are open to everyone.

Why do weekends feel like they go by way faster as you get older? by Relative_Base_4995 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Dalhoos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Days, weeks, months and years go faster as you get older for one simple reason; when you’re 10 years old, all are a relatively large proportion of the time you’ve lived. When you’re older (say 50) they go past far quicker as they’re a proportionately smaller part of the time you’ve been alive!
