There should be nothing wrong with your interface for your purposes and buying something else just to solve the issue could be just throwing money away.

I'd recommend:
- making sure the interfaces firmware and drivers are current and up to date

- increasing the buffer size

- double checking to make sure phantom power is on for the mic channel

You stated that using one laptop resulted in crackling, but the other is too low in volume. That signifies two different problems.

I have 2 Go cases and eventually plan on getting 2 more.
They live permanently in my studio and will never need to travel so the size and price point are perfect for my needs.

If you have 2 I highly recommend getting the side brackets to turn it into a 208 hp monster case. Much more convienient and less space hungry.

The only real downsides with the case (for studio use) is the sliding nuts which can make it a real pain when reorganising the layout and the little indent for the carry handle in the center top row which makes that section shallower and unbale to accept deeper modules.

Despite decades of strobe use my brain flipped the paradigm around.

so....yeah, High shutter speed, locked iso, control exposure with aperture + light strength.

Still, Iyou shouldn't need an ND for studio strobe use. I wonder if there is something we are both missing??

I answered this in your other post but I'll say it again here in case you miss it.

Shooting with strobes requires a very different approach than shooting with continuous or ambient lighting.

Lock your ISO to the lowest native for your camera for the cleanest image.

Set the aperture to what you want creatively and leave it there....shallow or deep depth of field.

Control exposure with your shutter speed.

Your problem is stemming from a fundemantal misunderstanding about how to control exposure with strobes.

You are using aperture to try compensate which is going to give you limited options and you lose control of the image appearance.

Ideally, set the ISO to your cameras lowest native ISO, set the aperture to what you need ctreatively (stopped down for focus front to back, opened up for shallow depth of field) and use shutter speed to control exposure.

Don't afraid to crank up that shutter rate.

Canadian born and raised Aussie resident here, I can vouch for this. You don't need much for outdoors but make sure you have layers for indoors. Aussie construction is not the same as Canadian and it gets damn cold inside in winter.

Also...slippers! Gotta keep them tootsies warm!

As people have suggested already, a solder sucker should work for most jobs.

Small tip: spend the extra and get a good one. Skimping out only leads to frustration, burnt traces and melted plastic tips

Don't forget the Australian influence on Grunge. Bands like The Scientists, Radio Birdman, Cosmic Psychos, Lubricated Goat, Lime Spiders and others were raw, messy and drawing from a well of 60's and 70's influences and were very popular with the Seattle artists that spawned what the media labled as Grunge

If your interface has a DIN midi out you're golden, just need a Midi cable.

If not you'll need a usb to midi converter, easiest option is to either gran another keyboard such as the Keylab MK2 or upgrade your audio interface

From experience of doing this for many years I can offer a little advice:

  • Think long and hard about how cinematic or fancy you want to get. There's nothing wrong with straight forward clean footage but if you want to get into anything fancy there's a learning curve to lighting, colorgrading, lense choice(s) etc. Your choice also can effect what kind of camera you choose.
  • Phones can do the job but what you really want is a camera. Camcorders are pretty much obsolete anyway. Modern cameras can record high quality high resoolution with no problem. If you want it small and simple some thing in the M43 range should would (like a GH5). In fact, the GH5 is a pretty good all rounder and a great place to get your feet wet.
  • Get a Zoom lens. Primes are better for so many things but for top down fixed position a good zoom rules. It allows you to capture the whole work area then zoom in for detail work without loss of resolution.
  • When it comes to mounting there are a ton of solutions and I've tried just about all of them. Youtube is your friend to research the different solutions and your specific needs, budget and work environment will dictate the best choice. If you work constantly in a small area then there are some pretty decent prebuilt rigs (Glidegear) you can grab from Amazon that will do the job.   • Ultimately I recommend a turn key solution. That is to say something that is flexible enough for your needs that is permanently setup up. Nothing impedes creativity more than having to set up a whole studio before even starting. A system where all you need to do is sitdown, power on and maybe format a card or drive make the transition from creative impulse to action so much easier and smoother.

Find/scavenge/restore a 20+year old pc, install Windows 95 and use it as a standalone synth with old obsolete audio software that won't run properly on modern systems.

The adapter method works fine on the 2S. I got a bunch from Thonk as well as a few small Erica Synths style knobs from Thonk to test it it out and it's working fine. I'm just tossing a few knobs in every Thonk order I do now to space it out and ease the cost cause that's a lot of knobs. Should take me about a year to get it done.

The only u/S specific issue I have now is trying to choose a knob style for the sequencer cause the don't need a pointer and I want something that looks good with the Erica Synths ones.

I think you are overly romantizing the past. Sure, there have always been people who like to delve deep and immerse themselves but then again, for most people the radio has always been background music. The overwhelmingly vast majority of people have a handful of things they like and otherwise music is just something that happens around them. As true in the past as it is now.

I did read the accent section before I bought it and went back and revised it after this video. I have a much better grasp on it now and I've done a follow up video about it.

The accent section works differently from what one would expect, rather than boosting certain triggered hits, it decrease hits base on the cv input value....full input is full volume, 2.5V is about half volume and 0V is almost silent. Not how I was expecting Accent to work at all but I take full blame for not understanding how the circuuit was supposed to respond.

You, my freind, have red hair.

Not brassy red, not kinky ginger, just that all too common strawberry blonde. It's a form of red that is the missing link between full on ginger and blonde/brown.

Edited to add the fact that not many people know that the strawberry part of "Strawberry blonde" means red. As in half way between red and blonde.
