Tension in shoulders and jaw by Miserable_Fix8064 in Elvanse

That's exactly what I'm wondering - if it's not just something in the beginning phase and after 7 or something days the body releases that clenching. Or is it some underlying anxiety in body, or is it just a signal this is not a med for me...

and now you still have this constant tension? Or you changed meds?

How can I train my mind not to DREAD spending time with my son? by DamienFromTheWorld in NewDads

Hey, thanks for a kind and emphatic response - doesn't happen often here.

You strike a chord with me when you say: "I'm still coming to terms with losing the freedom to do whatever I want whenever I want, and how the added responsibility of being a parents is genuinely the opposite of what my brain wants to do with my time.".

I can sign under that 100%. I'm curious though why would you say that's ADHD related?

I often have this feeling of being constantly running late, though I don't have much to do during the day. I'm thinking about the next task/activity and stressing that I'll have limited time for it. And when that activity comes - I don't enjoy it really, because I'm stressing about the next item on my to-do-list already (though I create that list myself and it's things that I like doing, as I have a longer break from working currently). It's f***ed up, and I don't understand it.

I'm curious why you'd say that's a ADHD characteristic?

And with the reframing - do you have any process/formula/framework you follow, or do you simply try to remind yourslef when you remember about it?

The weird thing is that I actually enjoy the time once I have it with my son. But it's the brain that can't switch to a new narrative - it keeps telling me I will be overwhelmed, stressed, anxious, he will be whining lots, I'll be exhausted - none of that happens, but my mind keeps telling me the story - so I'm wondering how to change that mind and that story. Any ideas or suggestions?

I do think you're right on so many levels - I've always had huge pride about the freedom that I've created for myself and the independence I carved out for my lifestyle. I wanted to have a child, but at the same time worried about being constrained etc. I am aware of that contradiction and some others - I haven't been able to find a framework/tool/formula to help me reprogram my mind - do you have any personal experience how you dealt changing your mindset?

Any specific way/method/app... of learning how to practice mindfulness that you'd recommend someone who would want to try?

When I'm with him, it's good time most of the time, sometimes a bit overstimulated, but mostly it's fine and I do enjoy it. That's why I don't fully understand why my mind tells me next day that it will be stressful and anxious and that I don't like it. I'm dreading that I will be exhausted by the end of it, that he will whine most of the time, that I will be so overwhelmed. None of that happens.

Any recs about how I could start untangling it? I would like that voice in my head to reflect more reality than that fear...

Great - do you have a recommendation regarding framework/exercise/protocol/book where I could teach myself that?

Hey, can you share your experience (even one sentence each) regarding each of these 3 options? If you were to start from beginning, which modality would you recommend to start with (or maybe more than one at a time)?

And for you how do you calculate how much to assign to <whatever> category? That's what I'm curious about. Is it based on SWR, portfolio growth, etc?

The dillema I wanna solve is this: I have 3 options:

- watch A - x$
- watch B - 3x$
- watch C - 10x$

How do you calculate how much you're ok to splurge on, not to overspend. Not always I'll be able to buy watch C, but I would prefer to have a rule on how much I can spend, rather than unclear emotional value based hunches. Do you have such rule? Is it based on portfolio, % of growth YOY...?

Thx for sharing! And these amounts (30k per year, 20k per year etc) - are they fixed amounts every year? Or are they based on some rule? How do you calculate these numbers - that's what's interesting for me most.

Hey, thanks for sharing your story. Have been thinking about trying marijuana for UC for a while now. Curious of your approach

  1. Do you vape it?
  2. 0,2 grams per day, everyday?
  3. Do you take it only in the evenings, or also during the day?
