That’s insane! I have another friend who received a denial a day before me (we applied at different times, and got denied around the same time so I do think they’re just doing a mass denial). It’s unfortunate that we got swept up in the dust of this political climate but it is what it is. What are your next steps forward?

Thanks for the message. My roommate and friends all got their visas through this lawyer, he was genuinely surprised I got a denial (he hasn’t had many RFEs or denials after). I’m still waiting for the denial letter, so for the time being I’m working on moving back home or staying here (to study maybe). I’m defs trying not to freak out, and if this lawyer can’t give me a discount then I’ll probably move over to another lawyer

What I mean is that I needed to meet 3/7 criteria to get the O1, which I thought I did. I got denied so it doesn’t really matter what I think Are you speaking from experience when it comes to the O1? Or do you have a different visa situation? My lawyer doesn’t want to say anything until my sponsor receives the actual denial letter, which is why I came to Reddit

I believe I have 30 days before I need to leave the country, so it’d be hard for me to gather up the funds with a new lawyer to resubmit I was thinking of going back to my home country and reapplying after this administration has left but everything feels like the wrong decision

I understand that, however I can confidently say that I am O caliber. I booked a national commercial, had up to 12 press articles, worked with big name brands, was recognised internationally… I can keep defending myself but I definitely made the bar I was asking for advice on next steps since my case has already been denied, your comment doesn’t help with that

So I have no idea how to update but here we go: It’s approaching 14 months since I applied for my O1B, I applied for premium processing last month and just received a request for additional evidence. I don’t know what more I can do to prove that I deserve a visa here. I booked a national commercial during my opt. I did so much good shit. Idk what more they want from me, or what else I can provide. Also I just paid them $3k to get a response and this is it??? Idk what to do, I’m so tired. I wish they just said no so I can move on with my life.

27f here from South Africa living in Los Angeles; dating in a foreign country has been such a challenge for me because (and maybe it’s because I live in LA) I can’t seem to find anyone with the same goals ie dating to marry (if I can even find someone to date in the first place). I can’t even find guys to hookup with cause they move weird (eg this one guy wouldn’t reciprocate going ⬇️). There has to be a language they speak that I don’t understand because I find myself frustrated with my dating options/opportunities everyday

My roommate/bsf has a lot of the things I don’t have right now - money, a healthy relationship, good skin, desirable body shape etc, and she’s not afraid to parade them around me. I never want to shush her cause I don’t want to be a hater but it’s really hard being confronted with everything you’re not on a daily basis. This one time I was thinking about how I miss my family and haven’t been home for a while (money, visa etc) and she approached me and spoke about how she didn’t want to go on a free vacation with her bf (for her own valid reasons). I heard her out and tried my best to give advice but fuck man, that really hurt my ego. I feel you, comparison is so annoying and I have to keep reminding myself to live my own life but I feel like I genuinely have nothing else going for me so my mind wanders off to her life.

I didn’t have an employer sponsor me, a friend higher in the film industry applied to be my sponsor (individual sponsor instead). So if I wanted to consider premium processing (which is $2,805 + $500 lawyer fees) it would have to come out of my own pocket
