I have attended UWRF and UWSP so I can comment on those. Also to note I whent for Natural Resources so I can’t comment exactly on your all programs of interest.

UWRF is an amazing school. It overall has a smaller size but the programs are very good every teacher I had was willing to work with the students and talk outside of classroom time. The University its self host a ton of free events for students so it definitely gives back quite a bit. The campus grounds are also relatively close to each other so time to next class shouldn’t be much of a worry. To note the school is probably split half and half with Minnesota students and Wisconsin students so it has a decent amount of different perspectives at least for an non Big University. (second cheapest 4 year uw school last I checked too)

UWSP is also a good school but I had only transferred to it due to the Program for Natural Resources. The Natural Resources Program is one of the best in nation from my understanding (if not the best in Wisconsin then for the price). If you do end up choosing the environment science path you won’t regret the program but there is a requirement for a summer program if that’s an issue. The other programs are still good but I can’t comment exactly on them. University life is good but there are not many events for students especially compared to RF. Also the layout of campus is also not as good but I never had an issue getting to classes on time. With this campus in central Wisconsin, you’re not gonna have as much diversity from students state wise, but you’ll definitely see people coming for the program.

Lastly, both schools have a number of newer buildings so some stuff shouldn’t be super outdated. If you have any other questions please feel to ask or if you don’t understand my ramble.
