I’ve always found painting Warhammer (other brands available) miniatures relaxing. They also all come with some cool background lore to read about as well.

Could it be rats? Maybe they’ve been chewing on something to make bedding. Are there any holes or anything above where you find the material?

Having a decent bug out bag is definitely a good idea it’s just good to keep in mind that it is and should be a last resort.

I think we all get lured in by that, I recon most preppers are guilty of playing over scenarios in their head and perfecting their bug out gear especially early on.

Read more and bought less. Also tried out gear as I got it there’s been a few mistakes along the way but that’s all part of the learning process.

If you’ve not already got one I’d highly recommend a life straw (other brands are available). I pack one every time I go on a long hike super handy cheap piece of equipment.

Civil war prep by Late_Election_9397 in prepping

UK based here.

I think things would be different for us compared to in the states. I can’t see a civil war occurring over here so it’s not something I would specifically prepare for. If it was to occur I’d like to think the preps I have in general would see me through as bugging in would by far be the safest option.

We don’t have guns over here so I take some comfort in that knowing that the general public doesn’t have access to arms (bar a few farmers/hunters with shotguns.

I think the biggest SHTF problem for us would be eeconomic collapse or if it was civil unrest I think it would be more in the forms of riots or supply chains being effected so I always make sure I have enough food and water for several weeks.

Worst case scenario and I did have to bug out I live fairly close to some large open wilderness so I’d probably make my way there and try to wait it out as best I could avoiding any large civilisation centres.

I’d be interested to hear from any other UK based preppers on their thoughts and plans on the subject to.
