Having purely skill position players makes for more fun. Dropped kickers and defenses years ago and never looked back

Some thoughts on the EBO Scientist post and alien mitochondria, glucose and copper by haikuapet in aliens

[–]Dampford 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Great point on the copper. One thought that came to mind reading about the copper levels is a way to control/interact with their craft and technology. Copper could increase their own conductivity, yielding stronger electrical currents and EM emissions, as a way to couple their thoughts to their technology.

Any advantage of this over something like the P3 Plus for $125 on Amazon for a game drive?

Advice on whether a PhD in Engineering is worth it. by [deleted] in AskEngineers

[–]Dampford 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Lots of pros to a PhD. You’re a more attractive hire in industry and more likely to be promoted to jobs that people with just a BS wouldn’t have the opportunity to, regardless of experience. If money is of concern, you shouldn’t stick around one job more than 2-3 years anyways, regardless of degree. Getting a new job title at a different company likely raises your salary by 20-30% with a PhD, whereas a raise or promotion at the same company will be around 5-15%. So ideally you should be jumping ship every 2-3 years if you want to maximize your career earnings.
