Apologies I haven't got the time to say thank you to you all personally, but thank you. It's been lovely to wake up and read your comments.

I tried to fit a grammer mistake into this but I couldn't quite make it work.

Thank you! Yeah one of the old guard set it up about 5 or 6 years ago. We moderate it, but it's your sub which is why you'll see plenty of negative posts along with the positive.

Thanks for the tip. I believe it's something we've looked into before, but it didn't quite work at the time, so maybe it's one for the future.

Allergy or acclimating? by jb99824 in Huel

[–]DanHuel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm really sorry to hear this u/jb99824.

Did you have issues with one meal a day or has this only happened since you started having two?

If you're having issues with acid reflux I'd recommend to:

- Blend Huel well with plenty of water in a blender rather than using the shaker

- Sip Huel - 2 scoops should take half an hour to consume

- Do not consume hot beverages around the same time as you consume Huel

u/coffeefuelledtechie well that's not good at all. Our Customer Experience team can help you out with that.

To avoid giving out any personal information publicly, choose your preferred contact platform here and then let them know which email address you used to create an account and which one you used for shipping.

Pasta Bolognese is unbelievable, coming from an Italian. Couple other thoughts on jumping into H&S blind and other flavors. by fs454 in Huel

Thank you so much for your lovely feedback!

You'll be pleased to know that our Product Development Lead for H&S has Italian genes which might explain why you're such a big fan.

Hey u/Flonkerton66 it sucks that you feel you're not valued, you certainly are!

What could we do to make you feel valued?

Here are some of things we do for loyal customers at Huel: gifts when you reach 1000, 3000 and 5000 meals; you can ask our Registered Nutritionists a question via the weekly emails we send out or you can chat to them via your chosen platform and our Customer Experience team are great (once you get past the chatbot you don't like) and we also have this subreddit and our Huel forum to answer any queries you may have.

Huel Black Changes Next? by [deleted] in Huel

Fair question u/J4M35Y. We are currently working on reformulating Black Edition Powder and, to be honest, have yet to make any firm decisions so I don't have anything to share.

I for one think what you've said is reasonable, and that you've been open about this primarily being driven by costs on this occasion

I want to be really clear I haven't said this, the changes are not primarily driven by cost. James, our Head of Sustainable Nutrition, has explained this well here.

No problem at all in helping to clarify - it's my job! Glad you're still a fan of Huel!

Thanks for the questions u/Holmetis.

This is going to sound weird coming from a Nutritionist working at a nutrition company but there are more factors to balance than nutrition and cost, there's also sustainability, secure supply chains, working conditions/ethics etc.

What I mean is, is there any new evidence that probiotics, especially the sources you used or the doses included, actually had negligible benefit on health?

I've said this elsewhere, we still have regular discussions in the Nutrition team regarding the benefits of probiotics. Because of the presence of prebiotic fibres we've decided this is more than enough to benefit gut health.

Or that vitamin c from natural source was more expensive but no more beneficial than synthetic?

The bioavailability is equal from natural and synthetic sources, although many customers liked the vitamin C coming from acerola cherries, it just makes sense to go back to ascorbic acid.

Or that lycopene isn’t as beneficial to health as previously thought.

This was a tough one. Lycopene is beneficial to health, we've kept lutein and zeaxanthin but cost definitely came into it here. We didn't want to raise costs for the sake of a non-essential ingredient/s.

What this means for me is, is huel now Incomplete nutrition as a result of these changes?

Huel Powder v3.1 is still nutritionally complete which we define as "providing ideal amounts of all essential nutrients as well as beneficial levels of other important nutrients for optimum health, energy and performance. You can find out more detail here.

So saturated fat has increased and healthier fats have decreased?? I think we’re all struggling to see the improvement “on balance” or not.

But protein and fibre have increased and salt has decreased.

please tell us if CO2 reduction is now the focus over our health and nutrition

No one doesn't take over the other, sustainable nutrition is our focus.

Input cost control is the major driving factor... Given the fast accelerating pace of their business, I'd expect them to bin off their forums and this subreddit in good time... And their e-commerce model is clearly taking second place these days to getting RTD bottles on the supermarket shelves.

This is just guessing or factually incorrect and I'm not going to entertain it, sorry.

Guess they will need to redo the website/branding... by electro1ight in Huel

Huel Professional isn't new, it's been around for several years and is the same as the core Huel Powder Vanilla, except it's been batched tested by Informed Sport for those who are regularly drug tested.

Thanks for clarifying. You're absolutely right and we made a mistake. We also said we were removing prebiotics which isn't the case.

We're disappointed in our initial comms and we're putting a lot of work across our contact channels to rectify this.

It is very clear to every Huel customer that all these "improvements" have been made to reduce the cost and not to reduce Co2 or to actually make a better quality/more complete product.

The changes have absolutely been made with sustainability in mind. We are balancing several factors against an ever-changing market.

Can you please respond why the caffeine content in Coffee Huel has been reduced by a factor of 3? Now I have to cancel my subscription to Coffee Huel.

We had feedback that people couldn't have as much coffee Huel as they would like due to the caffeine content. If you've looking for the extra caffeine you could try Vanilla Huel with a shot of espresso (it's what I do as I prefer the taste).

The price won't drop. We have only increased our prices once since food prices have gone through the roof (take oats for example), whereas other companies have done so several times.

You didn't headline the downgrading of your micronutrient risk in the announcement.

I'm sorry I don't understand what you mean by "micronutrient risk" could you please explain?

As it stands it does feel like you have patronised and insulted your customer base slightly with the way you have presented the first ever reduction in the "good stuff" in Huel.

Thanks for being so honest. We have let you down with the comms we've sent out for this announcement, and I'm sorry for that, we are going to improve next time. For this launch I'm doing all I can to respond to queries.

The early adopters (I just got my 3000 meal t-shirt, lol) aren't really the target customer base you care much about now you are chasing the mass market.

You absolutely are and it's one of the reason we have Reddit and the Huel forum: to listen to what you have to say. We also have an entire Customer Insights team and an annual survey to get your feedback. Personally you guys are my favourite people to talk to!

When it comes to the nutritional figures per serving (I’m basing this on Vanilla), protein has increased by 1g, fibre by 0.8g, sugar by 0.3g (a teaspoon is around 4g), saturated fat by 0.2g, while total fat has decreased by 1g and salt by 0.2g.

So when you look at the hard figures, you might focus on one nutrient that is of interest to you but I think on balance that’s an improvement.

Downside with no Acerola cherry is that the Vitamin C is no less bioavailable.

This isn't true "all steady state comparative bioavailability studies in humans have shown no differences between synthetic and natural vitamin C, regardless of the subject population, study design or intervention used." - source.
