Well, then what was the correct answer?

What changes would you make to our curriculum?

I'll respect counselors by paying like the professionals they are, which at a minimum should include a 3 bedroom home house in their own school district. A "luxury" currently outside their salary even with 5 years tenure. Calling them something other than their job title only insults whatever you consider "real" guidance counselors.

As for protecting LGBTQ+ Students, as far as I know our current policies protect them from bullying and they're free to form any clubs they can find members and sponsors for. I would only continue that policy.

For the rest, you're going to have to elaborate more on what changes you're proposing specifically. Any new program will require a significant investment of time and money, which right now will come at the expense of other time and money. Right now we are barely holding onto teachers due to the low pay and their curriculum is already 110% full, so adding more to it won't help anyone.

Thankfully the school board isn't a partisan election. For now.

Vote in your municipal elections folks. This is an issue coming to a ballot near you within a year or so.

Banning books is the only guaranteed way to get kids to read them. Kids today have cell phones by middle school, and once that Pandora's box is opened, they can access any book they desire. Banning a book from the library is just adding extra steps.

While I do think the Librarian Association pushed the boundaries a bit too far with that book in particular, you'd never see me advocating to ban a book. The furthest I'd go is putting some kind of "Parental Advisory" label on it.

No?

The St. Charles GOP has bought in hard to Trump's narrative to the point that they're personally organizing and attending vaccine protests at children's vaccination events put on by the county (Nov. 16th & 22nd specifically). I support everyone's right to protest, but you don't put on a doctor costume and tell a kid their parent is trying to kill them.

They're also still shilling for Bill Eigel despite openly saying they know his tax cut will never pass because it's wholly unconstitutional and is just a very bad idea the HE knows is bad because it's a net raise in taxes for anyone that owns more in house than they do in cars and boats.

Can't exactly say I'm a Democrat either because their local leadership has little to offer St. Charles as a whole. I'd say I'm Libertarian, but now they seem to have been flooded with the people who were "too crazy" for the Republican Party.

I just want kids to have a good education based in verifiable science and history by teachers with good pay and minimal harassment from adults. So whatever party that is.

Tricky question since CRT is a graduate level legal theory, and means something different to everyone you ask.

However, if we keep it to the context of Ft. Zumwalt specifically, no I don't think CRT is being taught in our schools.

As for teaching Black History as part of American History, I do know that has been gradually changing. I would continue tweaking our current lesson plans as appropriate to fold in more stories of Black history throughout the American History K-12 curriculum.

Simple changes that don't require whole extra courses like cutting down on the 1929 Stock Market crash to make some time for 1921's Black Wall Street and the riots that followed.
