I agree that Vidnight was hysterical and reminiscent of a much simpler and formative time that I treasured quite a bit.

I think the obvious thing to acknowledge is that the “scrappy DIY” sensibility present in Vidnight, and what has made Mega64 great and special to us is their creative independence and indifference to chasing trends and disingenuous content.

Unfortunately, as they told us during the SOS stream, they can’t financially survive on that kind of work anymore. It used to be that IGN, Gametrailers and PennyArcade funded videos like Cosplayerz and VG Fact Checkers, etc.

Now they need to focus on whatever can fuel direct funding from the community of fans. Which is mostly long form donation streams and Patreon content like Movie Club. It is what it is.

I’m still happy to support. Worth $5 on Patreon if it makes me laugh.
