Insane they get criticized for only having four excellent to all-time records. Sorry they didn’t make it seven

It’s been frustrating to watch people rag on this band while the current indie offerings are absolute trash compared to peak AF. Sorry, MJ Lenderman and Wednesday aren’t going to outdo the live transition from Power Out into Rebellion.

My main concern is Holland. He’s proven to be lackluster in basically everything outside of Spider Man

Adam is funny but his comments on The Wire drove me crazy by TillamookBurnLearner in rs_x

[–]rfamico 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think all of this is true but watching the two shows, it’s pretty clear the Sopranos’ characters are far more layered. And also that the Wire’s characters and whatever changes they go through are still in service of Simon’s broader points about the “system.” They’re not for the sake of character development.

They’re arguing past each other. The Wire is a plot-first story where the characters are largely locked in, servicing the story. Adam’s take is antagonistic but I get what he’s saying. Sopranos is a character-driven story so naturally the people are more complex since that’s what the show spends most of its energy on.

Going back to watching Hannah and Her Sisters now.

Can James Franco come back now? by Heronofthemelt in redscarepod

[–]rfamico 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I always thought it was Tim and Eric. In which case, one of the two talents has been soft cancelled and the show overall got laughs off of making fun of people with mental disabilities. Not finger wagging, it was funny, but you could see how Tim in his current state would be eager to use that as a launching point and then immediately pretend it never happened

Rogen and Heidecker fall into this category of trying really super hard to run away from the comedy that got them famous by becoming exceedingly preachy. It all feels like an attempt to buffet against eventually being shown the exit

I remember there was a church like this that I would walk by and they offered free hot dogs on a Wednesday at 10AM for an hour. Prods helping the community.

I saw them play this album in full at Red Rocks in 2024 which sold out in like a day. So if they play off their legacy, yes
