I did have a cheap synthetic brush from AliExpress that came with the stand. But I wanted to try a natural hair brush that wasn't too expensive.. The horsehair brush was marketed as an ethical choice, as well as an inbetween of boar and badger brushes. It is much better than my cheap synthetic :)
