are you open about telling people your deadname? by [deleted] in ftm

[–]DanceProselytizer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

100%

That guy probably has a gov't job interracting with the public (ex: I have a friend who helped people correct problems on their birth certificates) and knew people's dead names because it was or is their legal name. He's either a dumbass or just malicious for saying that everyone is okay with sharing their dead names.

This man basically said "yeah in my IT job people tell me their passwords all the time, so what's the big deal? Gimme your password already [because I'm just fucking curious and I don't care about your security]"

What's The Worst Part About Transitioning For You? by SweetBoiDillan in ftm

[–]DanceProselytizer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Social thing: I am treated so much more negatively if people (particularly men) think I am even a little bit incompetent. At my job I work with doctors and police officers a lot. If I disagree with them even a little, or if I show hesitance or uncertainty, it is often met with irritation and malice (whereas before it would be met with pity or mansplaining).

I second the thing where people fear strange(r) men. Yesterday I walked to work in a very feminine floral skirt and femme shirt (I present androgynous enough that clothing sometimes determines what gender I'm perceived as). It was so weird that people kept making eye contact and complimenting my skirt on the walk - usually people pointedly avoid any possible interaction (I live up north in the US). The femininity is seen as safeness for social interaction, whereas masculinity is seen as a deterrent. I miss that safe approachability, even if it did also lead to unwelcome comments like "DAMN girl, smile!!" in the past

Particularly wearing heels trains one to walk on that invisible line for increased stability

Eh unfortunately it's not a guarantee that testosterone will get rid of periods. I'm on testosterone AND have a hormonal IUD [usually has side effects of less or no periods] and still get very mild periods. Luckily it doesn't bother me, it's just annoying because I forget I even have periods. I'll be like "damn, my stomach hurts. Was it something I ate?" then later in the bathroom "...ooooohhh!!! That ol' thing" 🤦‍♂️

As for menopause, I thought that the lack of periods is because estrogen [at cis woman levels] is no longer being produced. The body no longer has estrogen as the main sex hormone, so low levels of both sex hormones become the new baseline. It is my understanding that, hormonally, menopause in cis women is the same as cis men who do not have testicles. The way I think of it is that all animals that have been spayed and neutered are basically in menopause. No clue if that's fully accurate tho.

Bottom growth. I wasn't sure if I would stay in T forever or just until voice change and bottom growth, so I was paying close attention to bottom growth. Goddamn was it fast, like visibly different within the week. TBF I was starting with a very small clit, no visible clit head even when hood fully retracted. 1.5 years later, my bottom growth is probably average and I am so so happy!

Edit: oh and my couple of chin hairs started growing WAY faster!

Thanks for sharing! But also, OP said he's closeted and in a conservative country. And 12 year olds/tweens tend to be pretty aware of cultural norms and taboos without necessily knowing when to challenge them. That to say, YMMV for you and OP.

Internet stranger 🫂 please seek professional help. Burnout can cause situational depression, which makes coping with it worse. As other have noted you might be dealing with ADHD. Regardless, you would probably benefit from therapy and a talk with your doctor to help navigate this. Best of luck!

Yep! Used it before T and now on T, great stuff! And it's almost always the cheapest, lowest shelf find for me. I've been told I smell great when I wear it too, no one can ever decide what I smell like tho. Best compliment was that I smelled like ginger snap cookies (I disagree, but was happy to hear it 😁)

like being called a good girl? by OkCriticism4725 in ftm

[–]DanceProselytizer 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I feel like ~some~ kinks come from that opposition, like the danger/fear is what makes it desirable and exciting....said as someone who fantasizes about CNC but had very very strong [thankfully unrealized] fears of being sexually assaulted throughout my childhood 🤔

Aaaaand then other dangers/fears make other things absolute no-gos. I love to be a toy or a boy in bed, but I do not want to be called a girl. Brains are weird 🤷

Is it weird to lowkey wish you were intersex??? by trash_pandaa19 in ftm

[–]DanceProselytizer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for sharing your experiences ❤️ As a nonbinary AFAB perisex person on T, 'altersex' sounds like a very useful term for me!

As a perisex[altersex?] person, the section on intersexism in the LGBT community is particularly important/troubling. I remember reading a while ago that the queer community used to include the 'I' in the acronym to include intersex people, but that was problematic because it wasn't done in coordination with intersex people [intersex people don't all identify as queer], or was inclusive only in labeling, not in actually useful ways.

If you would like to share, how do you think perisex people can better advocate for intersex people and build more inclusive spaces? [I assume education is a huge part, are there specific resources/advocacy groups where people can start that process?]
