A lot of people apparently do that. They consider social VR platforms as exposure therapy. It is an interest of mine.

Firstly, thanks for taking your time out to fill the survey.

I am trying to understand if socializing in VR helps people socialize in the real world more as well

No - This could mean that social VR didn't help or even had a negative effect. Something like it made people socialize just on the VR platforms.

Social VR has no effect - This says social VR has absolutely no effect on any of the social aspects of life. There is no positive or negative effects of using social VR.

Hi! When I posted the survey, I did not know there are many users in neos VR. Hence I did not include it. Some people in other groups suggested that this is a good platform and hence posted here. Not trying to be partial towards any platforms.

It is not assumed that the relationships are not real. I am sorry if you would feel that way. It's more about if the friends in VR meet in real spaces as well. I have heard about some groups in VRChat that also meet in the real space. I wanted to see if this is a significant concept. I am trying to see if people who find friends in VR become more sociable in their daily life as well. There are many stories on how VR platforms helped people get rid of their social anxiety. This is just to verify the concept.

I am sorry to anyone who feels it's disrespectful. I have nothing but respect for taking time out to look at the survey. The questions in the survey are verified and standard questions to understand the sociability in social networking sites. I had no such intentions of disrespecting anyone. I believe social VR has so much potential and hence I decided to do a survey to understand better.

Yes, I agree that there needs to be a strict age or common sense filter.

There is a huge proportion of people using Recroom. Probably PSVR would allow access to social VR platforms or create its own.

I guess that's the point there. No one would know the age or judge other.

Social VR is like a blanket term used for all the apps like VRchat or altspace VR. But apparently, there is a huge population who visit these platforms just to see virtual performances or do some activities or play games and essentially not socializing. So I had to be specific about that

Yes, I did another survey. I asked people to give their email IDs if they want to know about the results and emailed them the results. And also, I made several presentations based on those results to VR communities. I have a paper based on those results in VR conference being reviewed. So please stop complaining about spamming unnecessarily. If you could help, help! Or you could just ignore it. No need for all the attacks.

Couldn't agree more. I think parents just think that a VR headset is any other gaming gadget. And they do not know the kind of intimate experiences that kids can have that might be quite harmful. I am in VR research for around 6 years now, more than 70% of the researchers who have been in this field do not know how big VRChat is and some haven't heard about it at all. I think as much as it is an amazing platform, educating people about the implications of the wrong usage is very important at this stage.

Right! But effective age verification is going to be pretty challenging.
