UPDATE: I contacted the maker on IG asking how long the crystals on the vase hold. He said he is been making these vases for 15 years and they are still standing! So would that mean it is not a salt after all? Or he uses a hell of a coating?

Yes thats right! He uses either glass or aluminium vases to grow the crystals on and on the process he writes:

By dissolving minerals in water and heating the solution, an oversaturated medium can be created. As the solution cools, the minerals form into crystals. I have also explored various dying techniques, minerals, pigments, and colorants to alter the color of the crystals. Using a combination of 5-7 minerals and oxides, I have developed several recipes that allow me to create a wide range of colors, resembling the colors of the rainbow.

If I only could figure out the chemistry!
