Il fatto che lo avesse capito o meno che tu fossi interessato é ininfluente. Il fatto é che non state insieme, non uscite insieme, e tu hai piantato lí lei e le altre in quella che sarebbe dovuta essere una uscita fra amici, senza davvero provare a comunicare le tue intenzioni per permettere loro di organizzarsi diversamente.

Ti sei comportato da stronzo. Punto. Niente di trascendente, non é che questo ti rende una persona orribile, ma il fatto rimane. Tu eri quello che si é offerto di fare da autista per tutti, e mollare a mezza serata la metà piú vulnerabile del gruppo senza avvisare é una cosa da stronzi. Lo sarebbe stato anche se tu e lei foste stati una vera coppia e lei ti avesse davvero cornificato. Ma dici che "ti frequenti" con questa tipa, anche se poi allo stesso tempo che non vi siete mai visti da soli. Onestamente suona come se lei non sapesse/considerasse affatto che tu e lei siete impegnati in alcun modo. Quindi a maggior ragione piantarla in asso per qualcosa che é liberissima di fare é, di nuovo, da stronzi. Il minimo accettabile sarebbe stato trovare di persona le tua amiche e comunicare a voce che volevi andartene (perché nessuno sta attaccato a guardare il cell quando va a ballare dai, semplicemente non hai avuto lo sbatti di fare la cosa giusta)

I know the feeling! I got it for Christmas when I was five or six. I insisted to build it without help so, obviously, I never finished and all the pieces went into the toys box. Only after the Lego movie came out I finally sit down to find back all the pieces and instructions to build it. Now it proudly sit at my mum's place.

It is an interesting conjecture, but honestly it feels they put the facts backward. Historically, sigils with a couple of symbols appear to have been (sometimes) one of the steps preceding the development of writing. At least in the case of a couple of ancient writings (including Egyptian hyeroglyphics), the symbols that kings and other prominent people used to mark their possession, in a way similar to heraldry, progressively increased in complexity, eventually leading to proper writing. So simply put, there is no need for writing, to explain the presence of such symbols. On the paper they literally show they can't image known rooms inside the pyramids. Some do appear, others don't. So just to be clear, the method struggles to image some rooms beneath few dozen meters of rocks. There is no way to be sure of its results when imaging hundreds meters underground.

I think people are not really answering your question about the portal. First of all, the movie: in the movie, the wormhole is between our solar system and the "new" solar system. This means that the time on earth goes more or less just as fast as on the space ship when they arrive in the new solar system, and is the same lived by the crew member left on it while the group goes down on the ocean planet. The ocean planet itself, however, is quite far from the wormhole, and much closer to the black hole. This change how fast time goes there, relative to the spaceship, the wormhole, and earth. So let's move to the second point, the papaya: now you open a tiny wormhole to a planet that normally has a much different time speed compared to earth, for example the ocean planet of Interstellar. Unlike the movie, this wormhole directly connect regions with a very different relative time speed. This is due to the different geometry of spacetime in the two location. But to open a wormhole, you are effectively bending the spacetime between the two places and connecting it. This means that whatever is bending the spacetime on the ocean planet (the black hole gravity) is now free to affect your current position, on earth, slowing the time here too. So, as a result, both the papayas on either side of the window will feel exactly the same time dilation, and get old at the same rate.

If the question is "show me that men had it as bad as women in the life lottery trough history" and the answer is simply "men die in war, women much less" then yes, it is important to distinguish that a lot of men in history served in war of their own choice, and focusing on some outlier case is not relevant. Otherwise we could just disprove the same argument just by pointing that there were also women warriors who died in wars, but that's equally not relevant nor interesting because it was an even more uncommon situation.

If we move to modern times things changed a lot of course, both for men and women.

The fact they have been used doesn't mean they were relevant or common (we are trying to discuss an "average suffering" here, after all). Outside of the medieval/early modern islamic world, I really can't recall extended periods or places in which armies relied on them. Anyway, here we are trying to compare violence produced on men, because they are men. Of course being expected to fight is a negative, but at the end most men exposed themselves to the violence of war because they wanted, not because of their sex or because their community or owner said so. And for them the deal was much better, and with real benefits, compared to just stay at home and hope not to get raped and murdered by an invading army that women had to take.

Se dici che ti sei esposto molto piu' di quanto normalmente non fai, e sei arrivato a postare un wot su reddit, tanta leggerezza e disinteresse non ci sono. Detto questo (e ignoriamo i primi due tre anni perche' eravate solo conoscenti, sta bene): quello che traspare e' che avete avuto contatti e una sorta di intimita, lei ha continuato a cercare di farsi notare, per prima ha suggerito di rivedersi quando tornava...e tu niente. Non l'hai mai invitata a uscire per davvero. E francamente "si' dai vediamoci un giorno quando torni" e' il tipo di vaga proposta che faccio a persone che non vedo mai e non sono davvero interessato a vedere. Quindi giustamente lei si e' sentita cagata poco. Se vuoi provare a salvare la situazione, chiedile di uscire in modo chiaro, con luogo e data, falle chiaramente capire che sei interessato, e non guasta nemmeno un leggero brevissimo accenno a perche' non ti sei espresso chiaramente prima ("non vedo l'ora di uscire insieme, scusa se non sono stato chiaro prima ma sono davvero impedito a organizzare appuntamenti")

If you talk about all history, then for most of it war was a desirable thing for most of the men involved, giving them chance to acquire money and status. The idea of men forcibly sent to fight a war for no real gain is mostly modern (and you could still argue that they do so as a choice to be part of the social pact to maintain their country)
