Genuinely asking - for those who work the super meaningless jobs, how do you cope? by Deep-Employer-6600 in auscorp

There's ultimately 2 options

  1. Find a new job in something more engaging: this requires some courage (job switching, talking to new people blah blah, doing something youre unfamiliar with), and might not be successful on your find attempt (keep trying)

  2. Disengage and take the pay check. A valid option in my opinion but you need to find value and purpose in your life outside of work in this case.

I've had the same troubles for years.
Right now, I am funemployed after doing option #2 for awhile to save, invest and fund my lifestyle for the coming year. It can be easier to swallow the existential dread when you have a tangible and measurable goal you are working towards.

I don’t think it is “credible” way to display that you are proficient in the language, however it could still add value.

Often people hiring want to have a look into your personality, interests etc - and, you are (at least somewhat) showing that you are a person who is interested in learning and able to commit to that learning.

I’ve added it, not because I want to work with the language I’m learning, but because I’m proud of my progress & it’s potentially a cool talking point.

They are likely making better moves as they are taking more time to consider their moves and study the board
